And Joe Is Home

Waiting

joe

I sit here waiting,
Waiting to say good-bye;
Tears run down my cheek,
As I think of days gone by.

You were such a tiny baby,
As a toddler you learned to run;
As a child life was filled with laughs,
But, as a teen, the easy fun was done.

Seizures ruled day after day,
But you fought a valiant fight;
You studied and you worked,
I watched you grow but tears came at night.

You were so loving and giving,
You loved family and hard work;
But as life took its toll,
You kept going, life you would not shirk.

I miss the travel and fun we shared,
I miss your zest for life;
Your love of God and man,
Didn't diminish during strife.

But the fight was finally too hard,
You said, "I'm done!" and that was no lie;
Now you are with Jesus and Dad,
And for now, I have to say good-bye.

But I will see you again,
And you will be well;
We will laugh and celebrate,
And maybe, our story we will tell.
