Patiently I
gaze out my window,
Watching snow float to the
ground;
Inside my heart is aching,
For spring's cheerful sound.
The cold is
staying around,
Way too long I fear;
I'm anxious for the flowers,
I wish that spring was near.
Winter can
be surprisingly fun,
With sleigh rides and snowball
fights;
But I yearn for the scent of
lilacs,
And starry skies at night.
I can hear
the birds twittering,
I can see the golden sun;
I can smell the blooming blossoms,
I picture squirrels on the
run.
I pray Ole
Man Winter will leave,
And faces no longer will be
glum;
I enjoy the winter fun,
But he has worn out his welcome.
Quietly I'll
watch the snow,
And listen for the birds that
sing;
It may still be cold outside,
But I am waiting for spring.
