Cold winds blow in from the north,
Snow falls indelicate flakes;
Ice forms from water that drips,
Ice covers the ponds and lakes.
But our children are full of glee,
They run to get out the sled;
Winter beckons and calls to them,
Indoor doldrums they seek to shed.
Ice skates are laced up tight,
And snowmen populate the yard;
Winter beckons to all the young,
Their pets watch and stand guard.
But those of us who are older,
Prefer to stay warm inside;
Although the winter beckons,
On the ground we shall not glide.
Winter can be a beautiful season,
It has it own joy and fun;
So when winter beckons you,
Enjoy the winter sun.
