PWL BIGTIME WRESTLING

MONDAY, APRIL 8, 2002 - DETROIT, MICHIGAN.

Your Announcers: MIKE HOFFMAN and GENE WEST.

Match Number One: DWAYNE and T-BOY (w/ Bubba Shakespeare) vs.
TANKA SATCHMO and RUSSELL BRUTE (w/ Mondo Mbamba).

The seeds for this match were planted on last week's Bigtime Wrestling, when Mondo's stable of wrestlers had a minor scuffle with Bubba and his cronies. It's well known in wrestling an entertainment circle that Bubba, Dwayne, and T-Boy have been good friends for well over a decade, long before their foray into the squared circle wars. That's certainly gives them an advantage as far as teamwork is concerned. That is, against most other teams. Tanka and Russell are brothers, of course, and though they haven't teamed on a regular basis in quite some time, those family ties are quite strong, indeed. Write down a "W" for the brothers in this match, as Tanka and Russell thoroughly outwrestled Dwayne and T-Boy, with Russell pinning T-Boy at 9:44 for the victory. Both teams brawled afterwards, so don't expect this feud to die soon, unless it's detremined that nobody cares about it.

Match Number Two: CONRAD PAIN vs. PAUL MAUL.

As you should remember, the team of Conrad Pain and Paul Maul was disbanded last week, as both men fought each other after losing to The Pink Flamingos. It appeared that the sting of the breakup hurt Conrad more than it did Paul, and Mr. Pain was in full control for the majority of this contest. Conrad Pain ended the match at 7:10, pinning Paul after a Roundhouse Right.

Match Number Three: ELMO BLATCH vs. TIMOUTHEY.

This week, it was Elmo Blatch's turn to taste easy victory, as he faced the sport's "unchampion," the lowly-regarded Timouthey. The less said about any of Timouthey's bouts, the better, so: Elmo Blatch won in 0:17 after The Best Part finisher.

Match Number Four: BILLY JO JIVE and WATT SHROYER (w/ "Sweet" Susie Sunset) vs.
BUTCH and BAMM-BAMM HORNER (w/ Mother Horner)

After forming their alliance last Tuesday, it was time for Billy Jo and Watt to make their triumphant in-ring debut. However, the Fabulous Horner Brothers has other plans in store. The former North American tag champions were out for redemption after dropping the straps at WrestleRama 16, and Jive and Shroyer just happened to be in the way. Billy Jo and "Sweet" Susie couldn't blame this one on shoddy interference from their AWOL goon Wrongway, this was the Horners' night to shine. Butch pinned Shroyer in 10:41 after performing a truly unusual move. In the postmatch interview, Butch called this move his "Gross-out."

Match Number Five, Unified tag championship match:
CHARLES NELSON MANSON and GRAVY TRAIN GLUTZ (champions) vs.
REYNALDO GUERRERA and LARS LUNDQUIST (challengers, w/ The Woman Monique).

Eight days after unifying the UWF and CWA tag championships, Manson and Glutz made their first denfense. It would be their only one. Since joining the PWL last year, Guerrera and Lundquist have been thirsting for championship gold. No doubt The Woman Monique has been craving it as well. Championship gold for her men, that is. The polished duo of Reynaldo and Lars were too much for the strange team of CNM and GTG to handle. Reynaldo Guerrera pinned Gravy Train Glutz in 13:44, and the announcement went along these lines: Your winners, and NEW Unified tag champions, Reynaldo Guerrera and Lars Lundquist! When they were interviewed after the match, Guerrera told Mike Hoffman, "Man, now that we took these UWF and CWA belts from those coupla craetures, it's now our mission to get the North American tag belts." Lundquist chimed in, "That's right, dog. Soul Glo, you two dudes ripped us off last week, but don't expect it to work a second time. With The Woman Monique in our corner, ain't no way you can outwrestle, outclass, or outpretty the new Unified tag champions."

Match Number Six, World cruiserweight championship match:
BILLY RAY VALENTINE (champion) vs. DIRK MERCURY (challenger).

The long-reigning cruiserweight champion was challenged for the gold by Dirk Mercury, one-half of the on-again, off-again bawdy tag team NC-17 (with Triple X). It was the X-man, incidentally, whom Valentine defeated for the cruiserweight title in February 2001. Although most of the crowd (and the bookers) have likely forgotten that, Dirk surely had that in mind, as he tried to win the championship to avenge his partner's defeat nearly 14 months ago. Well, maybe not, because Billy Ray pinned him after 15:11 of exciting wrestling action to retain his championship status. Valentine made disparaging remarks about the PWL cruiserweight division, and was chased away from his number-one contender, Smooth Rudy, as the fans clapped and cheered Rudy on.

Match Number Seven: THE TERROR vs. M. KLEATS (w/ Mondo Mbamba).

The Terror was quite disgusted, indeed, to discover that Mondo Mbamba and his wrestlers are now accepting the fans' cheers and adulation. After a diatribe that made the television censors earn their keep, Terror attacked M. Kleats at the match's outset. Kleats, the Fat Albert protege and former North American champion, was able to bounce back and give the arrogant Terror a classic fight. Suddenly, the current North American champ, Exterminans, ran to the ring and began pummeling The Terror without warning. Referee Tom Tate had no choice but to end the match at 10:44. Officially, there was no winner, as Referee Tate decided that since the interference was not a shady plan from Kleats and/or Mbamba, they could not be held accountable. An official "no decision" was declared instead. Exterminans refused to say why he attacked The Terror, a fellow student of the one and only Joe The Giant.

Match Number Eight, World tag championship:
JUSTIN TOXICATED and AL COHOLIC (champions) vs.
SHAGGY and FREDDY (challengers).

After a weekend of title defenses on the house show circuit, ,it was time for AA to make their first appearance on television as the World tag champions. Their opponents in this Tee-vee contest were the obnoxious Shaggy and Freddy, who have dedicated their lives to following an animated canine. Fans always want to see those two get their clocks cleaned, and PWL fans everywhere received their wish here. Justin and Al fared much better than their original wrestling guru, The Terror, in the evening grappling. Shagg and Fredd were completely overwhelmed by the tag champions, who cut the bout to a merciful conclusion. Al Coholic took the win for his side, as he caused Freddy to give up to a certain type of submission hold at 12:16.

Match Number Nine, Quadruple Crown heavyweight championship:
SCHOOLHOUSE ROCKY (champion) vs.
THE GRITHER (challenger).

Like much of this evening's festivities, this match was set up last Tuesday, as The Grither demanded a shot at Rocky, as he once held one-fourth of the Q-Crown. Being a former heavyweight champion (though it was the CWA title), Grither knows a thing or two about championships. What he learned here was that it's so much simpler losing one title than it is to win four at once. Schoolhouse Rocky retained his quartet of belts in this Televised Main Event by pinning The Grither in 13:00.
