PWL BIGTIME WRESTLING
MONDAY, APRIL 22, 2002 - PHOENIX, ARIZONA.
Your Announcers: MIKE HOFFMAN and GENE WEST.
Match Number One,
Women's World championship:
EVE OF DESTRUCTION (champion) vs.
WEEZIE (challenger).
Eve of Destruction successfully defended the women's championship yet again, pinning crowdpleaser Weezie in 6:44.
Mike Hoffman conducted an interview with Q-Crown champion Schoolhouse Rocky. Rocky reiterated his goal of winning as many championships as possible.
Match Number Two: SOUPSPOON vs. A. PURPLEGRAPE.
This bout featured two men who have proven to be quite popular during their relatively short time in the PWL. With slightly more experience on his side, Soupspoon scored the victory, pinning Purplegrape in 8:41.
Mike Hoffman staged a brief interview with Soupspoon, in which he vowed to be a top contender for the cruiserweight title, perhaps even the heavyweight titles, in a matter of time.
Match Number Three:
SUPER HEAVY and SUPER HORNET (w/ Sweet Daddy Williams) vs.
SHAGGY and FREDDY.
Now that Super Heavy has formed an alliance with his old friend and a shifty manager, his luck has turned around, at least in this match. The Super H's won their initial bout, as Heavy pinned Freddy in 9:10.
Match Number Four: ELMO BLATCH vs. THE GRITHER.
This battle between the former champs of the UWF and CWA, respectively, was a rough and rugged one. If the goal was to beat one's opponent senseless, then both men were winners here. In the statistics, it will go down as a 15-minute draw. It may sound lengthy, but PWL fans like a good time-limit draw between two bruisers every now and then.
Match Number Five:
SMOOTH RUDY (with Mondo Mbamba) vs.
IGGY SHROYER.
The previous old fashioned brawl was followed by a classic cruiserweight bout featuring holds and counterholds that are so advanced, they likely won't be named for several years. Smooth Rudy got the win here, pinning Iggy, arguably the most scientific of the Shroyer clan, at 13:27.
Match Number Six: THE TERROR vs. ENCYCLOPEDIA BRAWN.
For reasons that will probably remain a mystery, the arrogant Brawn, fresh off his defeat to Soupspoon last Monday, challenged the former World heavyweight champion for this night. PWL fans were unsure for whom they should cheer, so they began a healthy chant of "Mashed Potato." The Terror thoroughly dominated this match, pinning Brawn in 4:01.
In his post-match interview with Mike Hoffman, The Terror badmouthed most of the top wrestlers in both the PWL and his TWO, but didn't appear to challenge anybody specifically.
Match Number Seven,
Unified tag championship:
REYNALDO GUERRERA and LARS LUNDQUIST (champions, with the Woman
Monique) vs.
TANKA SATCHMO and RUSSELL BRUTE (challengers, with Mondo Mbamba).
This exciting tag battle was marred by the appearance of Sweet Daddy Williams and his men, Super Heavy and Super Hornet. They attacked the challengers at roughly the 10-minute mark, as they had the match in control over the defending UWF and CWA tag champions. When Guerrera and Lundquist joined the attack on Tanka and Russell, referee Tom Tate called for the bell and awarded the match to the challengers via disqualification. M. Kleats joined the fray, helping Mondo and his guys chase away their brutish thug attackers. Official time of the match was 10:39.
Match Number Eight,
World heavyweight championship:
COOLEROY (champion) vs.
STARSHINE HIPPIE (challenger).
Former cruiserweight champion Starshine Hippie earned the right for this World title challenge by winning a 10-man battle royale at a house show in Albuquerque last Friday night. Hippie put on quite a show with his vast wrestling knowledge, but Cooleroy still disposed of yet another challenger thanks to his brute power, and the energy he received from all his fans. Cooleroy pinned Starshine in 13:11 to retain the World championship.
