"I think we're going to have to have you overnight for some tests," the doctors words came out cold and uncaring.
We'd been in this office all morning, my mom had insisted to take me to the hospital after I fainted at school. I really had no idea what the big deal was, it happened all the time. I've learned to ignore it.
"Yes Doctor Green, we'll do anything it takes."
My mom is way to over-protective. She wasn't always like this, no, not until my dad died. Every thing had gotten all screwed up after that. Now every little thing that happens turns into this huge deal. I wish she'd just back off.
"We'll have to get it done as soon as possible. Tommorow night, maybe?"
"Sure, tommorrow night's fine," my mom agreed.
"TOMMORROW NIGHT?? Mom what are you thinking? How could you be so unsensitive! You know for a fact I've been looking forward to tommorrow forever! I thought that it would be the best day of my life," I turned from my mother to the doctor, "Look fish breath, just because I fainted a couple of times doesn't mean I'm deathly ill or anything. It's probably the heat, you know how hot it's been..."
"Holly McCann, be quiet this moment!!!" my mom yelled.
I sat down and crossed my arms around my chest. They can't do this to me, it's my life, I'll do what I want with it, I thought angrily.
"Now aploigise to the doctor, and maybe we can work something out," my mom ordered.
I smiled. That was one of mom's god points, she always caved in eventually. "Okay. I'm sorry Doctor Green."
"Apology accepted."
"Okay good. How about the day after tommorrow?" my mom asked.
Doctor Green picked up his schedule book and flipped through the pages. "That's the 19th?"
"I'm pretty sure," I responded. At least I got some say in on what was going to happen, whatever that was.
"Okay, good. Around...six'o'clock do you think you could come in?"
"Six.....AM??" I gulped. I usually slept in until...at lest 11.
The docotor smiled,"No, six PM. Don't worry."
" So you can still go to the concert?" My friend, Maya asked that night as I talked to her on the phone.
"Like I'd miss it! I've been looking forward to it for, like, ever! Hang on, I've got a call on the other line," I pressed the button to switch to the other line. "Hello?"
"Hey Holly!"
"Oh Hi Dawn !! I'm talking Maya on the other line. Do you want me to three-way it?"
"Sure!"
"Okay hang on a second." We always did this. We were best friends. Ever scince my Mom got us three way calling, we've been in heaven.
"Everyone here?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Un-hunh."
"Super! Oh my gosh! I'm so stocked about going to the concert tommorrow! It'll be so much fun!" I screamed with delight.
"I know," Dawn said. "Remember, Maya, you promised to beat me if I cried. I will be so morified if I do. I mean, how much stupider can you get, crying? Please!"
"And I also get to call sucrity," Maya laughed. "SECURITY!!! This girl has been following me around all day! Please get rid of her!!" She yelled into the phone laughing. "Oh shut up.......you loser......I'm gonna kill you!!!!!"
I heard the phone drop then chuckled. I could just picture Maya chasing her little bratty brother, Brendan all over the house. Her brown curls in the pony tail bobbing up and down with every step. Her deap blue eyes set in a glare. She wasn't too tall, a mear 5'3" but when she spazed, look out! There was no telling what she could do.
"Why do they fight so much?" Dawn asked. She was the peacemaker of the group. Her older brother and sister had already moved out so she couldn't really understand why people got so mad with their siblings. She even looked peaceful. She had perfect blonde hair and crystal blue eyes. She was always smiling, and hardly ever blew up at people.
"'Cause they love each other," I responded.
"I'm back," Maya said breathlessly. "Oh and I just remembered. Dave's comming with us. Is that okay?"
Dave was Maya's boyfriend of 4 months. They never went anywhere without each other, partly because Dave was the jelous type, and partly because they couldn't stand to be apart. Me and Dawn approved of Dave. He was cute, with his semi-long dark brown hair, startling green eyes and the most adorible gap between his fount teeth. But he also had his hot points. He was built, tall and drop dead georgous.
"No prob, Bob," I responded. "Do you think he'd mosh with me?" It had been my dream to mosh at the concert. Everyone's like, no you can't mosh, they don't play the right kind of music. Or, I'm not doing it with you! Do you know how stupid you'd look?
"Probably not," Dawn answered for Maya. "He'll be too busy holding Maya."
Although I couldn't see it, I knew for a fact that Maya turned about ten-thousand shades of red.
"HOLLY" I heard my mom call. "Suppertime!"
"Okay you guys supper! Mmmm....Okay! See you later!"
"Bye!" they said in unison.
