Maya almost burst into tears as she left Holly's room, she could never remember being as relived as she was that very moment. Holly's going to be alright, Isaac was right! Then she repeated the words over and over again until they became meaningless. Maya sat down on a the closest chair that she could find and sat down.
"Are you alright?" Isaac asked in a concered voice, as he dropped into the chair next to her.
"I alright now that I know Holly's going to be alright!" She exclaimed, then gave Isaac a big bear hug. "Thanks for being there for me, even though we've just met. I don't know how to thank-you enough, it really ment alot to me," Maya whispered softly in his ear.
"Think nothing of it," Isaac said just brushing it off.
"It ment a lot to me!" She repeated sturnly and walked down the hall.
Isaac watched her go down the corridor dreamily. I want to ask her out so bad! But... His thoughts were intrupted.
"Hey-ya Ike, how ya doin'?" Zac inquired.
"I'm fine," he responded without looking at his younger brother.
Zac looked up to Isaac and followed his eyes to Maya. Uh-Oh, Zac thought, He doesn't know. Isaac sighed and Zac realized that telling Isaac this would kill him.
"Can I go yet mom? All I wanna do is get into MY bed and sleep," Holly complained to her mother.
"I know sweetie, I know, we just have to wait a few minates for Michael."
Holly looked at her mom puzzled, "Michael?"
"Dr. Green."
"Oh," Holly looked through her bag, she hadn't really unpaked it enough to pack it up again so she looked to see what her friends had brought her. Her brush, p.j's, a book. The usual. But then she saw something that made her shake. Jaw dropping she picked up the picture of a man with brown eyes smiling at her...a man she had known and loved. A man who she called, "Dad."
Still shaking she asked her mom who packed her bag.
"Maya and Dawn did sweetie. I think Zac helped," she noticed her daughters face was pale. "Holly, are you okay? Do you want me to get the doctor?"
"No, no it's okay. I just...I just saw something, I'm fine," She smiled weakly as if to prove she was all right.
Her mother looked her up and down. Comming to the conclusion she wouldn't be able to get much more out of her daughter, she went back to making the bed.
Holly put the picture carefully in her pocket. Maya and Dawn don't know...I never told them. She ran her brush through her hair. Then why would they pack it?
Maya skipped down the hall. Dawn still didn't know the great news about Holly, and Maya wanted to be the first one to tell her. As she was walking, thoughts seemed to keep drifting back to Isaac. I like him...I REALLY REALLY like him, she thought a bit confused. But how can I have such strong feelings for someone I just met? Plus there is Dave and I love him. Or at least I think I do. Isaac from what I've seen is everything I've ever wanted in a guy, yet I could never hurt Dave. She stamped her foot in frustration. Why didn't Dave just come to the hospital like I wanted him to? Then I probally wouldn't have the feelings that I do for Isaac. DAMN you Dave. I'm so confused, and were could Dawn be? She spun around to find Dawn fast a sleep in a chair in the cafeatiera. Maya smiled to her self and put her hands on Dawn's shoulders. "BOO!" Maya said in a voice that was only loud enough to scare her.
Dawn screamed and jumped. "What the hell? Where am I?" she asked her heart pounding.
Maya laughed and forgot all about her worries. "Your at the hospital Silly!!"
"I guess I fell asleep, sorry. I just sat down, and these chairs are so comfortable. The last thing I remember thinking is how much I wish Holly would be alright." A wierd expression crossed her face. "Holly, we better go see her."
Maya's heart once again lept with joy. "She's going to be ok."
"Huh?"
"Holly's going to be ok, she didn't have meningitis. The docters were wrong. She has Mono like everyone first thought. She's going to be comming home today! Can you believe it? Itsn't that the best news you've ever heard?" Maya was talking almost to fast to understand, she happily hugged Dawn.
"You mean she's going to be alright?"
Maya nodded. Both of the girls had a radiant smile on there face.
"Let's go help Holly pack."
"I can't believe your are going to be gone 2 whole months" Dawn said sadly looking in to Taylor's eyes. They had become almost inseparable since Holly had been brought home from the hospital.
"I know it seems like forever. I miss you already."
Dawn smiled even though she was on the virge of tears, and she took Taylors hand. What am I going to do with out him? She wondered I wish he didn't have to go on tour. I know how much Holly and Maya will miss them to.
Taylor, Zac and Isaac had spend almost every day over at Holly's house. They had in a way become Holly's personal nurses, espesally Zac. He spent all of his time with her, when she was awake.
"So what are you going to do with me gone?" Tayor joked " Call all of your old boyfriends and tell them your a free women for a little while?"
Dawn felt the tears that had been building up all morning finally spill over her cheeks.
"I'm sorry, what did I say?" Taylor asked, taking Dawn in to his arms and kissing away all of her tears. "I didn't mean to make you sad."
"I'm going to miss you so much," Dawn sobbed into is chest.
"I'm going to miss you to, but don't cry. Your to beautiful to be sad," something was soothing about his words and Dawn found herself smiling. "There we go, your geogous." He gave her a short but firm kiss, that made Dawn forget everything but him.
"So, your leaving me?" Holly asked Zac playfully. She was sitting on her bed not as tired as she had been in the last couple of weeks.
"Yes, but only for 2 months. I'll be back in no time. By then you'll be back to yourself and won't need me as a nurse anymore." He smiled. "Then I'll have to find a new female patient to look after, it might be hard to find someone as bossy as you though."
Holly slapped him on the arm but then got serouis. "Will you call me? I mean you don't have to everyday, but you know once and a while just to tell me how you are. You know, and maybe write me once and a while?" Holly asked mad at herself for sounding so needy.
"I don't know..." Zac started jokingly but then stoped when he saw Holly's face fall. If there was one thing in this world he couldn't do, that would be hurt Holly. He didn't know why but there was something about her that made him want to do everything in his power to protect her from everything bad and hurtful. "Of corse I'll call you when ever I can. If I can't call I'll write. I promise"
Holly smiled warmly at him. Zac inched over towards her and gave her a hug, he wanted with all of his heart to kiss her but didn't what to catch Mono.
"I'll miss you," They wispered to each other at the same time.
Maya and Isaac stood side by side outside Holly's house. The Hanson's would be leaving soon, and they had wanted to say goodbye to each other in privite. In the past weeks they had become really close, but both of then thought it would be easier if they didn't become involed. Maya didn't what to hurt Dave even though as every day passed he became more and more unbarable and controling. And Isaac didn't what Maya to brake up with Dave because he saw that in a way she really did love him.
Maya sighed deeply, "Do you want to go for a short walk before you go?"
"Sure," Isaac agreed wanting to spend every moment he could with her before they left.
"I wish our relationship wasn't so hard," Maya said walking at a fast pase, not looking at Isaac. "I don't know want to do. I've known Dave for as long as I can remember, and it's always been Maya and Dave. Yet there is something about you..." she let her voice trail off silently wondering if she loved him.
"I know, but don't think about it so much. We've already agreed that it is better for both of us if you stay with him. I can't handly a girlfriend right now, I'm to busy" Isaac lied.
She sighed again only longer this time.
"I know, but I still wish It could be easyer" She gave Isaac a hug to show him how sincere she was.
Issac held on to Maya getting a wastfull look in his eye's. "I wish it wasn't so hard also. But for now I think we have to go are separt ways, it will probally be easyer on both of us. You'll have Dave and I'll be able to focus on my music." His words sounded harder then he intened them to, and Maya took a step back. Her eye's gowing huge with wastfullness like his.
"I guess your right. It will be easyer for everyone" Maya looked around and then focused all of her attention on Isaac once more "I better go see how Holly is, because I promised Dave I'd meat him at my house in an hour." She turned to walk away, but then stopped "I really will miss you"
Isaac knew what she ment. It wasn't just that he was leaving for two months, it was that in a way he was walking out of her life. It wasn't far for either of them to see each other as often as they had when he came back. So they would now have to say good-bye for good. I'll go spend most of my time working on my music and she'll grow closer and closer to Dave. I wish it didn't have to be this way Isaac felt tears start to gather in his eye's and turned away.
"I'll miss you to, but it's the way it has to be."
Maya ran up to him and gave him a kiss that some how manged to fall on his lips.
"Bye,I hope you have a nice trip," and with that Maya left leaving Isaac staring wonderingly after her.
Isaac came into the house without Maya.
"Where is she?" Holly asked.
"Oh, she said she had to go and meet Dave at her house or something right away," Isaac mumbled.
"She just left? Like, just like that?" Dawn asked.
"Yeah, she seemed to be in a rush or something."
Holly looked at Dawn. Maya was never in a rush for anything. Maya always thought to herself, "Nothing start's until I get there. They can wait." Which made Holly wonder what was happening between Dave and her friend...
