"Holly your going to the hospital tonight! You promised me that if I let you go to the concert, you would go!"
"But Mom," I whined. "There is nothing wrong with me! The doctor was just over-reacting!"
"Doctor's don't over react. We're going, so get ready."
I stood there not moving with a disobediant look on my face.
"NOW HOLLY, I DON'T HAVE ALL NIGHT!"
"Ok fine! You don't have to spazz," I walked swiftly out of room with out waiting for my Mom to reply. There was nothing wrong with me and I was positive that the doctoer was over reacting, I watch T.V I know what really goes on in docters offices when know one is looking. he probally mixed my medical papers up with someone elses, it's happends. I tryed to convince myself as I climed the stairs to my room that my migren was just a small head ack and that the dizzy spell that had just came over me was because I had gotten up so fast.
"MOM" I screamed as I fell down the stairs.
"What's going on?" Maya asked Dawn as she saw an ambulence pull in to Holly's driveway. They where on their way to ask Holly if she felt up to seeing a movie with them.
"I knew Holly was acting funny! I just didn't think it was serious," Dawn whispered.
"How do we even know it's Holly?!" Maya said franticly, "it could be someone else!"
Suddenly a streacher came out of Holly's house. Holly in it and her mom walking beside, crying.
They rushed up to the house. They wanted to get to Mrs. McCann, but they were restrained by the Paremetics.
"Excuse me, I'll have to ask you to step back," the Paremedic said.
"But we're friends of Holly's. Please just let us through," Dawn asked pleadingly.
"I'm sorry, we can't do that. Please step back."
"Then at least tell us what's going on," Maya tried.
"I'm sorry. I'm not permitted to release that information. I will ask you once again to move."
Dawn and Maya unwillingly stepped back.
"Lousy son of a bitch. Won't even tell us what's going on with our own best friend," Dawn glared hard at the man.
Maya nodded and crained her neck to see. All she could see was Holly being loaded into the ambulance, her teary-eyed mother asking all sorts of questions, and the voices of the paramedic's calling out a whole buch of words that ment nothing to her. She stared at them, hocking up wires to her friend, best friend scince Grade 2. Rambling on and on in, what seemed like some other language. Why won't they just tell me what the hell is going on?she thought. This affects me and Dawn too. Finally she couldn't take it anymore, "Ms. McCann! Ms. McCann!" She yelled.
Holly's mom looked up. Maya could see the tear-stained face, worried eyes gray eyes misted over and usually smiling mouth set in a tight frown.
"Oh Maya," She sighed. "I'm so glad you're here."
Dawn finally caught up with Maya. "What happened to Holly?" she asked.
"Not enough time to explain now. Do you girls think you could help me?" Mrs. McCann responded.
Dawn and Maya nodded their heads in unison.
"Good. I want you girls to run into the house and call my mom and sister. Could you please do that for me? Tell them to meet me at the hospital."
"No problem."
The girls sprinted to the house.
"Okay," Maya breathed as they entered the beautiful country kitchen. "Their address book is...usually here. Shit, where the hell is it?!"
Dawn quickly took control of the situation, "You keep on looking, I think Holly's Granny is on speed dial." She scanned the list of names for the speed dial and found Mrs. Brooks' name on the 4th one. She picked up the phone and hit the button. "C'mon, c'mon..." Dawn walked back and forth praying for Granny to answer. "Pick up!!"
"Hello?"
Finally!"Hi...Mrs. Brooks? This is Dawn Lehman...Holly's friend."
"Oh hello dear. How may I help you?"
"Found it!" Maya called from behind her. Nearly giving her a heart attack.
"Sussshhhhh..." Dawn turned her attention back to the women on the other end of the line. "Ummmm...there's been an accident."
"An accident? What happened? Is anyone hurt?" Mrs. Brooks' voice was filled with worry.
"Yeah...Holly...she's hurt. I don't know exactly what happened, but Ms. McCann asked me to tell you to get to the hospital as fast as you can," Dawn's hand was beginning to shake and tears were welling up in her eyes.
"Is it serious?"
"I think so..."
