Glendon was selected by the Royals in the 17th round of the 1993 June Free Agent Draft...signed by Jeff McKay.
Began his professional career in 1993 with the Gulf Coast Royals...was 4-2 with a 1.60 ERA in 11 contests, earning a late season promotion to Class A Rockford. Spent the entire 1994 campaign in the Midwest League...posted an 8-5 record and 4.66 ERA for Rockford...fanned 122 batters in 114.0 innings. Tossed a no-hitter on August 7, 1994 vs. Kane County...fanned 11 of the 28 batters he faced, allowing only a 2-out walk in the 8th.
Went 14-6 with a 1.74 ERA in 26 starts for Wilmington in 1995... named as the left-handed pitcher on the Topps/NAPBL Class A All-Star team following the season...also tabbed by Baseball America as the best control pitcher in the Carolina League in their "Tools of the Trade" survey.
His 1.74 ERA and .188 batting average against mark led the minor leagues in 1995....his 14 wins tied for 6th among all Class A pitchers and led the Carolina League...was 2nd in the league in strikeouts, tied for 3rd in shutouts, 4th innings pitched and tied for 4th in starts.
Tied for the top single game minor league strikeout performance in 1995 when he fanned 17 batters vs. Lynchburg on August 7.
Was the only pitcher on the Omaha staff to record double figures in wins (11) in 1996...also led the staff in starts (28), innings pitched (169.2) and strikeouts (117).
Regarded as the Royals 3rd best prospect by Baseball America following the season and was considered the 6th best prospect in the American Association in 1996.
