Chubb Trail

     A scenic trail on the northern edge of the Missouri Ozarks.

Hills:

Most technical hills in St. Louis area.

Made difficult by the terrain, rocks and loose gravel.

Lone Elk side:  fast, loose rock descent.

Tyson side:  fast, technical descents; one major dropoff.

Terrain:

Mostly clay dirt with chunky rocks. River area soft and mucky when wet.

Roots and rocks very slippery when wet.

Scenery:

Follows the Meramec River.

Hilltop views are diminished by beautiful trees.

Lots of wildlife especially deer.

Riverview is wonderful (don't fall in).

Ride trail early in day to surprise the wildlife.

Other:

Trail is shared with horses, walkers, and occasional runner.

For more challenge start on the Tyson end.  

Lone Elk end is rideable by all levels.

Wear a helmet!

Be courteous of horses and walkers.

Mileage:

Round trip - 16 miles

Lone Elk end - 8 miles

Tyson end - 8 miles

Linear trail - turn around at any

time
