“In the beginning there were only two: Eve
was a Delta and Adam was a Que”
The Omega Psi
Phi Fraternity was founded in 1911, and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was
founded in 1913. Both were founded at Howard University, a historically black
university in Washington, D.C. One of Omega’s founders, Frank Coleman, while a
student at Howard, dated and later married, Edna Brown, one of the
founders of Delta. In addition, Omega Founder Edgar Love dated Delta Founder
Edith Young. Finally, Omega Founder Coleman's sister, Grace Coleman, was on the
first Delta line, and served as the President of Delta. Thus both organizations
were founded with a bond between the Ques and the
Deltas. Traditionally then at the Delta-Que founders’ respective Howard University Alpha Chapters,
the Ques and the Deltas were brothers and sisters in
Greek life. This spread throughout the nation as Delta & Que Chapters were founded on various college campuses. Over
the years, Delta & Que Chapters as well as
individual Deltas and Ques have retained this
brother-sister affinity. So go tell the world about the Ques
and the Deltas -- that's Delta-Que love.
