This is opening day at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. November 4, 1991. Inman hopes to be the President of the U.S. some day. Not pictured: U.S. President Richard Nixon.

Friends Harry & Bess Thurman pose in one of their last pictures together. This is on the occassion of the 50th Anniversary at their home in Independence, Missouri. If the Opry ever receives a building a portion of it would be entitled and named after the former president & first lady. Truman is the only president from Missouri.

We reflect and remember some dear friends and loved ones. These eight sisters are truely a great example of love and inspiration. Ruby Swearengin, the only surviving member of the eight, will turn 90 in October. She is the mother of Opry performers Mary Swearengin & Bill Swearengin. In this black & white photo, the sisters pose together after the burial of their dearly departed mother pictured on top row: Lillie Quindy, Minnie Thaxton, Nora Baker, Pearl McMurry. Bottom: Francis (Frankie) Williams, Lura Bookout, Ruby Swearengin, Bessie Swearengin. In later years the seven surviving sisters join together to celebrate Lillie Quindy's birthday.

  • Bessie Swearengin: May 19, 1912 - 1989
  • Francis Williams: 1903 - 1979
  • Nora Baker: 1886 - 1977
  • Pearl McMurry: 1900 - 1987

  • Lura Bookout: 1905 - 1964

  • Ruby Swearengin: Oct. 5, 1908 -
  • "Happy Birthday & Congratulations!" England's Queen Elizabeth, the Queen's mother is seen here in August of 1998. The Queen's mum just turned 98 and the Opry would like to congratulate her on her longevity and for being Europe's oldest living monarch. We all wish her many more birthdays and the best of health. Opry host Nicholas W. Inman is a relative of Britian's Royal family and he expressed shear excitement at the news of the Queen mum's birthday.

Some of the Opry cast pose here with Opry member Icel Maden. Icel is a resdient of Marshfield Care Center and she is currently the Opry's oldest member. The Opry had just finished a performance at the Care Center.

Pictured here is Joe Patrikus the designer of Roy Rogers boots. This great night the Opry family makes Dale Evans a member. Mr. Patrickus accepted the award on her behalf.

The Gooseberrie Pickers gaze in amazement at one of the Opry's fine stars.

All smiles and love radiate from this photo. Orpy stars pause to snap this photo.
