"Your blood is evil. Your mind is consumed with evil thoughts. Your soul is tainted with evil. Why in the seventh sphere do you walk the way of light?!"

-- Sinder. (The Orion Saga 3: Orion's Quest)

Chapter 12.

Memories.

Vegeta sighed as he put his forehead on the window. "And so we left him there. Broken. Not once since that day did I ever expect him to find a way off that planet." He turned and faced the rest of the gang. He couldn't see a thing, yet he could tell they were hanging on every word. Even the strange little kid to his left. Goku was sitting on his right with Gohan on his knee.

"Well. What do we do now?" Tien asked. Goku put his elbow on his other knee and rested his head on his fist. "What can we do. We don't know where Tervin is or if he's even alive."

"So what are you saying? That we just give up and go home?"

"It's not like we have a choice." Piccolo interrupted. "Tervin has some new form of scouter. One that can hide his energy from those that can sense it." He turned and started walking out the door. "It's up to him to make the first move."

After Piccolo left the room Goku nodded in agreement. He rose to his feet setting Gohan on another seat. Poor little guy. he'd fallen asleep halfway through Vegeta's story. He looked over to Orion. Amazing. The kid was still wide awake as ever. "I think Piccolo's right. We'll have to wait and see what happens."

He walked over to Orion an knelt down. "As for this little guy, Do you have a place to go."

"Well I was staying with Murdock. But I guess that address just went sailing. So I guess I don't." Goku nodded.

"Can he stay with us daddy?" Came a sleepy voice from the other side of the room. Goku looked over at his little boy. He was laying on the seat rubbing his eye's, looking at him so adorably. "Of course. I think Chi-Chi'll love him." All of a sudden he remembered something. "OH MAN CHI-CHI'S GONNA KILL ME!"

"All right guys here's the plan. We all meet at Master Roshi's tomorrow to discuss what's up." Goku shouted out to the crowd. "Tien. Find Yamcha. I'm sure he'd want in on this." He looked at Gohan, then at Orion. "OK guy's! Ready to go?" Orion jumped up out of his seat with the energy of a two year old. "Yeah!" Gohan still lay in the chair, fast asleep. Goku went over to Gohan and nudged his shoulder. "Gohan..." He whispered tenderly. "Gohan...It's time to go..." The little boy stirred. Finally his eye's opened wide.

"O...OK..." He said groggily. Goku took him in his arms, letting Gohan's long hair flow over his arm.

"Common Orion." He said happily and held out his hand. Orion nodded, taking Goku's hand in his. As they walked out the doors and made for the exit, Orion again felt admiration for this man. This warrior. He hoped he would get the chance to train with him. Just to learn some of the things he knows. The secrets he must keep.

As they got outside the doors Goku let go of Orion's hand and knelt down beside him. "Tell me Orion.. Where do you come from? Where did you live before you Became a slave for Murdock?" Goku asked. His voice calm and comforting. Orion looked at him suspiciously. "Slave?" Orion asked. He'd never really thought of his stay with Murdock that way. He turned away from Goku. He continued to dwell on the last few months. Yes. He was a slave. He started to shed a tear as he thought about all the times he'd lied to himself. Telling himself that he was Indebted to Murdock for saving his life. But he knew the truth. He'd always known. He just didn't want to believe it. His tears continued to drop.

Goku felt nothing but sorrow for the boys sudden revelation. He to understood what a burden it was to be nieve. "I'm sorry Orion." He said in a sullen voice. Orion turned back to face him, wiping the tears from his face. "No it's I who should be sorry. Sorry for ever believing his lies." Orion turned again, taking a few steps toward the parking lot, and looked up at the sky. His eyes fixed on a single constellation. His mind went back.. Back to the his last days at home...

The boy sat on top the cliff overlooking the revenue. His hands prying through the silk green grass. His eyes gazing up at the stars.. He continued to look for the one star he knew would one day rule his destiny. His mother was brought up differently than most. She believed that a person should chose they're own name. That they're destiny would never be complete until they did. He understood this and took it to heart.

He continued to search for his star. As his eyes continued to gaze upon the beauty of the night sky, he heard a sudden rustle in the bushes. He didn't even look. He just bowed his head. "Come on out Mia." The boy said closing his eye's and smiling. He loved his twin sister. Perhaps it was the way they were born. Most twins are born one at a time. But he and his sister were born in each others arms. Wrapped around each other. The doctors though they had been genetically attached. But no. They had been inseparable since birth. Neither could stand to be away from each other for long. As if the presence of they're twin held some sort of bodily function that no one else could possible posses or understand.

Mia slowly came out of the bushes. He looked at her with the fondness of sibling love. Her eye's as gentle as the snow. Her hair as beautiful and black as the night. Her slim body covered by an enormously cute outfit, displayed by a series of Butterflies and stars. To him there would never be a more beautiful person.

"Sorry." She said in her own cute way. He smiled at her.

"It's OK. I think you should be here now anyway." She cocked her head and looked at him quizzically. "Why?" She said coming over and sitting beside him. He took her hand into his own and looked into the night sky. "I've chosen my name." Mia looked at him wide eyed. "But Cia" she said in a pouting voice. "Mother says we shouldn't pick our names till we get older and more mature." She said pleadingly. The boy got up and stared into the night sky

"Are you kidding me. At the rate we're going we'll be adults before we're five." He stated with a laugh. It was true. He and Mia were only two and a half and yet they looked like they were six. "Besides. I don't think I'll ever regret this name. I've been thinking about it for quite a while now." Mia looked up at him.

"So what is it?" She asked. The boy could sense a little hint of excitement in her voice.

"As soon as I find the star...." The boys gaze suddenly shifted down the hill, toward they're house.

There he saw a few men. Rough looking men. He also saw his mother. The boys face quickly went stern as he realized that she was on the ground. "Mia stay here!" He shouted as he took off down the slope. Mia watched in fascination as he ran down the hill and disappeared into the deep forest. She wondered what got him in such a hurry.

The boy sped through the forest with speed not fitting his age. He easily dodged branches and jumped over bushes. He didn't even notice the forest go by. All his mind was on was his mother. Several men had come bye earlier when their mother had thought that they were asleep. He couldn't hear much but what he could hear was a lot of arguing. Finally he heard the door slam. He thought about asking her about it later. he could plainly see she was upset.

As the forest began to come to an end, he could almost see the gang of thugs and his mother. Before the forest ended he jumped form a fallen log and into the roof of the forest. "Leave my mother alone!" he screamed in a cry of rage as he hurtled out of the leaves and branches.

The men looked up suddenly for what could possible have made such a noise. Only one of them got their answer. The rest of them stared blankly at they're fallen comrade. On top of him stood a small child. The little boys head slowly can up and he stared at the men with fiercely focused eye's.

"Orion... Are you OK." Orion's mind was lost in the past. Vivid memories that seemed more like reality than reality itself. He continued to stare blankly into the stars. Not paying any heed to Goku's calls.

Goku looked upon him with a worried expression. He could sense Orion's power rising at an enourmous rate. He took a step back as Orion's body began to glow. Gohan started to stir as he to suddenly felt the power rising before him. His eyes shot open and he stared at Orion. Orion continued to remain in his dreamworld. He suddenly started to shed a tear.

The boy looked on them with the contempt of a lion observing a trespasser into his den. The men started to chuckle. One at a time at first. Then the chuckles turned into a bellow of laughter. One of the men stepped forward. "Sorry little guy. But your mother owes us money. And we're gonna have our payment. One way. Or the other." the man stated as he pulled a revolver around from the back of his pants.

"The hell I owe you!" The boys mother screamed. Her defiance ringing through every word. "My husband owned this land. It's all we have."

"That's not the way our boss see's it. He see's it that you've been trespassing on his land for quite some time now. It's either you pay what he wants in rent and get out. Or we'll find a much more easy way to work it off." The man stated, running his eyes up and down her body.

"Enough." The boy shouted. "I want you guys off my fathers land now." He continued calmly. The man Raised his revolver and pointed it at him. "Oh yes. I've had about enough of you. Goodbye super runt." With that he pulled the trigger.

The instant the boy herd the loud bang he felt differet. Stronger. Faster. He suddenly felt as though he were no longer in control. He couldn't move. Time seemed to slow down as he watched the bullet scream toward him, leaving a wake of shock waves behind it. His first emotion was fear. Then a sudden sense of duality. As if he were not the only person that dwelled inside of his mind. He watched with eyes that weren't his as his own hand came up and caught the bullet as though it were a mere speck of dirt in the wind.

+ + + + +

"Daddy!" Gohan cried out as the wind started to pick up and spin around the glowing body of Orion. Orion was now hovering one foot above the pavement. Goku shielded his son from the harsh wind as he watched on. He was completely amazed. Never in his life had he sensed such a thing. It was as if Orion wasn't there. He could see the glowing light. But Orion's body was gone. All around him he could feel the very fabric of reality start to give way.

Suddenly he noticed something. The wind and light only gave off for about four feet from Orion. Outside of them all was calm and serene. Even the light that Orion was giving off didn't even touch the surrounding space. Goku decided he'd seen enough as he could literally see reality bend and curve. He stuck his hand out towards Orion's shoulder. The wind grew stronger until even he hand trouble staying in once spot. Gohan held on for dear life as the tempest rippled through his long hair.

+ + + + +

The boy still didn't understand what was going on. His mind started to jumble as it tried to discern what was happening. He'd just caught a bullet for Kame's sake! His heart beat as readily as though he were sleeping even though in his heart yet he felt nothing but fear.

His mind screamed as time again slowed down as he jumped into the air, landing just beside the man with he gun. Out of the corner of his eye he saw that he'd fired another shot. He watched in awe as he saw his own foot rise and knock the gun from the mans hand. His body suddenly turned full circle and knocked the man clear into the forest.

He didn't know what to think. His mind jumbled as his heart felt a knew emotion. Anger. What ever force was making him do this was not natural. And he sure didn't like the idea of not being in control of his own body. His mind continued to fume as he looked towards one of the other men. He paid no heed as the man draw a gun and launched a series of bullets. Whatever force that seized his body easily dogged these and sent the man spiraling down the opposite path of his friend before him.

He concentrated all his mind on trying to regain his control. Finally he did. His mind suddenly warped as though it were suddenly pushed forward. he felt this sensation he suddenly heard a voice. "No! You don't understand!" Again he felt fear as he realized that the voice belonged to him.

Closer and closer Goku edged his palm until his fingers could almost touch Orion. His arm felt like it was on fire as it touched the spots where reality didn't seem to exist. Just before his palm stroked Orion's shoulder the wind seized as though it were never there in the first place. Goku stumbled forward onto the parking lot pavement. Before him he saw Orion. He continued to hover for a few moments. His arms beside him. He head held up to the stars. Massive tears running down

Goku got to his knees as Gohan got to his feet. "Orion?" he said as he put his hand on "Orion's shoulder. The instant he made contact Orion's body went limp and fell into Goku's arm's Goku stared into Orion's eye's as the twinkled back at him. "I... I.. couldn't save them..." Orion said in a sullen voice. Goku felt pity for the young boy as he fell asleep in his arms. Goku looked up at Gohan, who was now wide awake. "Couldn't save who?"

The dreams continued even now. He'd had them ever since that terrible day. He was not as he was then but as he was now. A tall strong man. Able to defend himself and the people he loved. And yet he felt like a child again. Running through the gentle snow drifts, taking mind not to step to far to the ones that were obviously covering up deep caverns.

Finally he came to an enormous cliff. Tervin looked outward and gazed upon the icy valley. The beauty he'd left behind so long ago. His heart ached it he missed it so. He heard a sound to his left. Turning his head he saw a long, winged creature flying through the sky. It's blue scales rippled along the wind. The long snout making it look so much like a dragon.

Tervin smiled as he gazed upon it's shimming tail as it past by the slope. He glanced quickly behind him. Turning his head back he jumped into the air. The dragon didn't see him until the last second. A split second to late. Tervin chuckled to himself as the dragon fell lifeless to the ground. He remembered it be a lot harder when he was little. Back then killing a Polar Kracken was an all day affair.

He slumped the dragon over his shoulder and started running home. As he ran to the cottage he continued to plague himself with thoughts. Why am I in such a hurry? I know what is up ahead. He though painfully. It hurts so much so why am I running? He could no more stop himself than he could stop the dream. No, the dream never stopped. It always ran it's course.

He dropped the Kracken just before he reached the house. slowly he approached the door. He knew what was waiting inside. Death. Death in all her wicked humor. He stopped at the door and rubbed the handle. And second now and outside force would compel him to open it, and all his life will come toppling down. As if it heard itself being called that force came. Tervin slowly turned the knob and opened the door.

As he stepped inside his entire body seemed to change. He no longer his strong able self, but a small helpless child. He tried with all his might to close his eye's but the unseen force kept them pried open. He watched on as his mother ran towards him. He watched on as he saw the dark hand of death appear out of the shadows and clamp itself into a fist.

His mother's chest ripped open as a massive hole appeared in it's place. He looked at his mother with tear-filled eye's as she fell to the ground. As she fell she started to speak. "WARNING! UNKNOWN ANOMALY!"

* * * * *

Tervin's eye's shot open as he violently came out of his dream. He sat up strait as he tried to get a handle of where he was. He looked around the room. It was dark, and dusty. The walls were made of wood that seemed older than time itself.

"WARNING! UNKNOWN ANOMALY!" chimed his scouter. It was still firmly planted behind his ear. He closed his eye's in frustration as he hit a button on the back. The scouter slipped from it's solid position, and into Tervin's hand. Tervin opened his eye's and looked at it. Not very damaged. He could see a few scuff marks but all in all it was fine. Save to the beacon antenna on the lower half.

Tervin pressed another button beside the first and spoke. "Run a level three self diagnostic. If there's so much as a molecule of water I want to know about it." Tervin sighed as he lay back down on the hard bed.

The sudden thought of water returned. HE sat back up and stretched his body. H had a few cut's and bruises but all in all he'd say he was doing just fine. He started to raise his right arm to his temple. A sharp pain shot up his arm going right into his spine. Arrgg. Damn that Namek! He cursed to himself.

The scouter beeped and he picked it back up. "SYSTEMS NOW RUNNING AT 30% CAPACITY. REPAIR SUGGESTED. LONG TERM USE NOT RECOMMENDED. GUARANTEE EXPIRES IF YOU DO NOT HEED THIS WARNING. I HOPE YOU SAVED YOUR RECEIPT." The scouter hummed. Tervin looked at with a look of contempt. "Lousy second age piece of.."

"WARNING! UNKNOWN ANOMALY DETECTED DURING THE HOURS OF 02:12.34 AND 02:12.35"

Tervin looked at it suspiciously. "Hmmm... Go into repair mode." The scouter beeped and whirled. It's outside frame, which was in an oval shape with on side slightly larger than the other, connected both the end forming a circle. The visor part came out and placed itself dead in the center as little flat prongs appeared from all sides of it and engulfed the rest of the divice. The scouter now looked like a little miniature version of a flying saucer.

"Excellent. Now give me a full analysis of the anomaly." The scouter beeped again as the visor became a little holographic projector. it showed the anomaly a few inches above it. Tervin looked at it queerly as it seemed to take the shape of a small boy. he brought his Hand to his chin as he tried o understand just what in the hell it meant. "Explain." He commanded the scouter. "TEMPORAL INCURSION." "he machine chimed. For and emotionless piece of equipment it didn't sound very sure of itself.

Suddenly he heard a noise from the door. He looked up from the scouter and saw a little girl. She looked to be almost six years old. her pert face a soft and smooth as a winters snow, with long, strait blonde hair falling almost to her shoulders.

Tervin let a small smile drift to his lips. He hadn't seen such a small child (of any race) for a very long time. "Hi there." Tervin said sounding more childish that he liked. The little girl stayed by the door. Slowly she raised her hand and waved. Cute. Tervin thought. She still did not make a move.

He sluggishly moved his legs over to the side of the bed and looked over to her. "My name is Tervin. What's yours." He said almost as a sigh. Still she did not move. She just stood there staring at him with those glowing blue eyes. Well. you always did have a way with the ladies. He thought to himself.

Chapter 13

"ouch! Bad number. Someone has to die"

--Sinder. The Orion Saga 2: Other Worlds than These

Orion awoke steadily. His dreams had been strange. Dragons, castles, swords, and a strange blue man. Orion opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling. He started to wonder if it was a dream. Or had he traveled across time again, like before when he was at the hospital. He didn't even know what was happening at first. He knew even less how he did it. he just knew that at some point his memories became reality and he'd stepped forward. He though that maybe if he did things right.... Since he'd seen it all happen before. That maybe he could save the lives of his sister and mother.

But no. It all happened exactly as it did before. His current mind was forced out by his own self of that time, but he still remembered what happened. How it felt for another person to invade your consciousness. Then forcing them out. only then he didn't have the power to save his family. He was easily knocked unconscious by the men. He remembered waking up several hours later. Murdock was there telling him that his mother and sister were dead. Burned up in some fire that those bastards had set. Murdock had even taken him to the house. And sure enough it was burnt to a sinder.

As Orion continued to look up at the ceiling he finally noticed he was crying. A soft cry with slow tears escaping from his eyelids. He sat up and wiped them from his face. He looked around the room and saw it was a child's room. Random toys thrown about. As he slowly turned his head around the room his eyes caught something that really held his interest. A shelve full of books.

His mother had taught him and his sister how to read a little but when he went to live with Murdock all that came to an end. Murdock said that reading wasn't something that little warriors should do. He had read a few books since then. Small ones that he could hind under his small futon. He hardly ever slept so he had read his books about a hundred times.

He glanced quickly over to his side. Gohan was there sound asleep. Orion smiled as he got out of bed and walked over to his closet. Opening it up he saw all manner of outfits. Most he would think to be worn at a costume party. As he pushed one out fit away and looked at the other he realized that none of these would ever fit him. He looked over at his slightly naked body and gave a chuckle. He finally noticed how much bigger he'd gotten since his fight with Gohan.

He looked up again to close the closet door when he noticed something. On one hanger there was an outfit that just might fit him. He picked it up and look at the closet. He could of sworn that it wasn't there before. Orion shrugged his shoulders. Oh well. Mysterious dreams, and mystical closets. All in one day.

Orion set the ought on the floor. As he looked it over he decided he liked it very much. It consisted of a pair of bluejeans and a black T-shirt. The T-shirt had a zipper that came down a few inches from the collar. The jeans had several different pockets. The normal two on the upper sides as well as a few on the sides of the legs just above the knees.

As he put on the jeans and shirt he decided that he did indeed like this very much. He looked over at the mirror and observed his new appearance. Very nice. All he needed now was a brown aviators jacket and he'd be set. He looked around hoping that it too would appear out of nowhere. No such luck. He walked over to the book shelf and looked through the tittles. Gohan had everything from school books to fantasy fiction.

Orion Picked out an exceptionally long one from the right side of the shelve. The from tittle said "Sailor Moon" on the front cover. Orion flipped through the pages, reading the words with lightning fast speed. He finished the book and looked at the front cover again. "Weird." He said to himself.

He put the book back on the shelve and picked out another one. As he pulled it out of it's place he heard some commotion downstairs. Garbled yells and crashing objects. Orion went to investigate. Walking down the stairs he could hear the shouting much better. "I told you to be back here at dinner time!" Came a women's shout. Orion peeked over the corner of the hall and into the kitchen.

He saw Goku in the corner looking sorry for himself as he stared at a piticularly beautiful woman yelling at him from across the room. "Do you know what goes through my mind every time you don't come home?" She asked as she turned away from Goku. Orion noticed that her voice was much calmer now. It almost sounded as if she was on the verge of crying.

Goku stepped up to his wife and put his hands on her shoulders and rubbed them gently. Her head swayed at the relaxing feeling. She turned around and faced him. Goku put his hand on her chin and kissed her gently. Orion smiled and started tiptoeing back upstairs. this wasn't his place to be right now.

When he got back to Gohan's room he glared again at the bookshelf with a look of excitement. Grabbing a handful of three books he plopped them down on the desk. This is definitely my lucky day.

Tervin ate his shusi with the contempt of a child eating broccoli. He'd hated fish ever since he was a kid. Although he had to admit it wasn't that bad. He looked across the table at the cook. The little girls mother. She'd come into the room just a few minutes after the kid. She introduced herself as Cerifine and the girl as Mia. One look at Cerifine and he could tell were the little girl got her looks. Cerifine was a knockout. Couldn't be no more than 22 or 23.

Cerifine looked up at him from her plate. He quickly brought his face down but it was to late. She'd see him staring. She smiled and let her glance fall back to her plate. "So how did I end up here?" Tervin asked. His voice was dark. Almost as if he resented being alive. Cerifine looked up. "Mia brought you." Tervin looked up and at the child, then at Cerifine. She understood his confusion. "Yes she brought young over her shoulders. She's stronger than she looks." He looked back at Mia. She stared at him with contempt. Like he'd just stolen her favorite toy.

"You'll have to forgive her. She's a lovely child. But ever since we lost her brother, she's been, well... different." Tervin again shifted his gaze to Cerifine and cocked an eyebrow. "Her and her brother were very close. They were twins. Not born one after another but at the same time. They have a bond that can't broken. It seems not even by death." Her voice was sad now. She obviously hadn't talked about such things for quite a while now.

Doesn't matter. he thought he knew what must have happened. He'd recalabrated his scouter to measure the child's power. Although the source was very mysterious the child still toped out at amazing heights. It would have been child's play itself to pluck him out of the river without the Namek noticing.

He looked at Mia again and smiled. A look of mistrust swept over her face, making her cute dimples fade away. "Thank you Mia, I'll never forget it." Suddenly her face turned toward the door. Tervin herd his scouter start a massive fit in the other room.

Sinder crouched low in the weeds and bushes outside of town. A wicked smile going from ear to ear. He scratched his crotch as he watched the busy folk going about they're morning business. He'd sat on the mountain tops watching the sun come up. Eating the week old corpse of an already half eaten deer. A soon as the sun became fully visible he decided that it was time to fulfill Obverons orders. He scowled at that.

Obveron was getting much to arrogant for his own good. He was actually starting to believe that this was a master/servant relationship. No matter. This would be the last time. It wouldn't even have come this far had it not been for the old bitches prophecy. He started to chuckle. He thought of how Obveron had come to him pleading for help. He wouldn't have even thought about it had it not been very likely. No they're father had left an annoying legacy. One with had to be attended to. The past few years were just a little mopup to make sure they haddn't missed any.

Sinder thought again of these things and wondered just why he was here. This Tervin jackass wasn't a target. So why was he even bothering. Oh of course. He has the potential to interfere with Obveron's plans. Obveron's plans. Sinder thought to himself. Just the thought of this made his flesh crawl up his back. He wanted nothing to do with Obveron's plans. Brother or not this was the last time.

Keinith searched around the corners of buildings and bushes. He and his friends had decided to play an early morning game of hide and seek. As usual, he was it. Because he was the "Poor" kid. As if that meant anything at all. Two of his friends had already made it to base. He searched around the garbage cans. Nothing. Now where could such a fat jerk hide.

Kenneth suddenly lifted his head from the can and saw what he was looking for. The fat &*^% was actually trying to hide behind a twig as he slowly crept to base. Kenith started walking toward him in a desecrate fashion. Making himself ready to pounce on the blueberry fool, he caught wind of the most putrid smell that had ever graced his nose.

He shot over to his left looking towards some small bushes. He could barley see out the orange hood that covered his head and mouth, but he could see two red glowing eyes. Curiously he stepped over to it. Picking up a branch he saw on the ground he violently poked in into the bush.

Keinith's friends screamed in unison as a violent growl can from where Keinith was standing. In seconds the little boy was in the air being held by his throat. they again screamed in unison as they looked at the creature holding they're friend. It was a short stumpy creature. It's hind legs so small you couldn't tell that they were all that easily supported the weight of the fat cellulite above. It's arms were huge. His biceps doubtlessly the size of Kenith's head. The worst feature however was the hideous face that loomed on the skull. It looked almost like actual face paint. Or maybe a tattoo.

Kenith mouthed something under the hood of his coat. To his friends it was merely gibberish. The creature seemed to hear it loud and clear. He cocked his pointy head as his long purple hair waved in the wind. "Kiss yo mother with that mouth." With that he popped the child's head off like a cork on a wine bottle.

The other children watched in horror. "OH MY GOD! HE KILLED KENITH!"

"YOU BASTARD!" The child beside him pointed towards the creature and gave a disgruntled face. The creature threw the body of poor Kenith(no pun intended) to the ground. He pointed at them with two of his fingers. the instant he pointed them to the sky the children were consumed by a firey abyss. They're chard corpses slumped to the ground.

"Never did like that show." The creature bellowed as he rubbed his eye. "Damn kid. How rude." He chuckled an insanely devious laugh. He looked around the village he could see the villagers starting to flew. No matter. there was only one person here he came to see. "Here Tervin.. Tervin...Tervin."
