Chapter 7
Jendo waited in his hospital room as Kuririn and Yamcha thought about what to do next. Jendo hadn't been much help on giving a picture of his pursuer's abilities, but that was beside the point. They weren't sure what to do with Jendo himself. Kuririn finally broke the tense silence.
"Why shouldn't we help him? If nothing else, it would be a good diversion."
"Kuririn, I'm not worried about this guy who's tracking Jendo, I'm worried about Jendo himself. We don't know anything about the guy, and we have no evidence he's telling the truth. Besides, I don't want to fight for him if it puts Earth at risk."
"If you really feel that way, why not just help him train? That way we don't get directly involved, and we don't have to worry about getting hurt."
Yamcha considered the possibility. That meant he'd miss out on what might be a fun battle, but he'd be able to help....without risking anyone else's lives. Goku and Vegeta might put the fight above everything else, but I'm not strong enough to risk that; besides, I don't get stronger if I lose.
"Sure, why not. I'm getting tired of training alone anyway."
"Great! I'll ask Dende about the Room of Spirit and Time!"
"No."
Yamcha's response caught Kuririn off guard. "Why not?"
"First, I'm not sure that the Room's been rebuilt yet. Second, I don't think we should get Dende or Piccolo involved if we don't have to. Finally, the kind of power increases the Room gives are too much for my liking. I still don't trust Jendo, and that's too big a risk. That rules out him training at Capsule Corp as well. I think we'll just train him at my house; I have a portable unit there we can use."
"Alright." Kuririn was about to leave, when a thought struck him. "Should we tell the others about this guy who's coming?"
Yamcha thought about it for a few seconds, then decided against it.
"No. They don't have to get involved in this, and frankly I'd like to see a fight where Goku doesn't have to bail us out. I'm not jealous of him, but I'd like a reminder that even if I can't go Super Saiyajin I'm a good fighter in my own right."
Kuririn looked at Yamcha with understanding. "I know what you mean. It wouldn't be so bad if Vegeta couldn't go Super Saiyajin, though!"
"You've got a point."
"When should we meet again?"
"My house, at noon. I'll bring Jendo. "
"Alright. Goodbye!"
"Goodbye, Kuririn."
Kuririn's body flared white as he left out the window for home. Yamcha entered
the hospital room to talk to Jendo about his decision.
"Well? What did you and the short one talk about?"
"His name is Kuririn. And we were talking about whether we should help you."
"You think I need help from you?"
"To be frank, yes. If you want, we'll give you training that will help you beat your friend Horn. If you don't want it, that's fine too, but we won't fight either way."
"If that's the case, I'll take it. I know I can't beat Horn at my power level, and I'm not arrogant enough to think I can't use help if it's offered. When does this training start?"
"Tomorrow. It'll be rough, Jendo. Goodbye."
Yamcha left the room, and walked out of the hospital. He took walks whenever something important was about to happen; flight was exciting, but a good walk let him savor every moment. Tomorrow, we'll find out how strong Jendo really is.
