Chapter 10: ANOTHER One?!
Kilshir left to go find the palace record-keeper, while Jekan
continued to just look at Aloriden. Voren leaned over to him and whispered.
"Wipe the drool off your mouth, you're looking a bit too eager." Jekan
started, then glared at her as she snickered.
Aloriden looked at both of them with disdain, then turned to Midja.
"Servant-girl, go get me some wine."
Midja was shocked. Voren was furious. With one swift movement she had
Aloriden by the collar. "How DARE you speak to her like that! I ought to GUT
you right-" She cut off suddenly in surprise.
Aloriden glared at her. "Right here? You know that would only earn
your death. What are you staring at? Let me go, will you?!"
Voren shook her head. "Kriz. This."
"This what? Voren, are you sick or something?"
"LOOK!" She grabbed a shiny object from under Aloriden's shirt and
showed it to Kriz, nearly choking the girl in the process. "It's the cloud!"
Kriz's eyes flew wide. "It. It."
Jekan and Midja crowded around to look at the amulet. Sure enough, it
was the last of the Five, the Pearl Cloud.
Aloriden was gasping and choking. "Let me (cough cough) go, you (cough
cough) lunatics!"
Voren released her and just looked at her. "Do you know the legend
behind that amulet?"
"No. All I know is that my mother gave it to me."
Voren took out her own Ruby Sun. "Does this look familiar to you?"
        "No."
        She sighed. "Jekan, Midja."
They both took out their own amulets. Kilshir came in just in time to
see them doing this. "What's going on?"
Voren pointed at Aloriden's amulet. "Look."
Kilshir's eyes threatened to pop out of his head. "Wha-a-at?!"
"Stop stammering and take out your necklace."
He did so without hesitation. Voren placed her Sun on the table and
positioned the other amulets next to it in a particular order, then motioned
for Aloriden's amulet. The girl shook her head, but Voren growled and she
didn't argue.
        "Now."
As soon as the Cloud was in it's place, they all gasped as their minds
filled with memories. Memories of the First Five, memories of all their past
lives, memories of everything. Voren's eyes filled with tears, Midja looked
incredibly shocked, Jekan was almost smirking, Kilshir looked stunned, and
Aloriden was just plain freaked out. The circle broke as they all fell back,
the necklaces coming with them.
Voren placed a hand on her forehead. "Oh."
Aloriden rubbed her temples. "I have a headache."
Everyone agreed with that. Kriz just looked around at them all. "What
happened?"
"Oh, it was. It was. It can't be described." Voren said breathlessly.
"Every past life back until the First Five went through my head."
Kilshir said wonderingly.
Voren moved to where Aloriden was still rubbing her forehead. "Do you
understand now, sister?"
Aloriden nodded slowly. "I understand. Sazha."
Voren smiled. "Welcome, Sirya. This is the real reason you came here
today. It had nothing to do with a marriage. It was to find us."
Aloriden looked slightly dazed. "I suppose."
Kilshir looked at her. "Sirya, you are one of us."
