ON THE SUBJECT

The word of the LORD came to
me :"Son of man, set your face
toward Gog, of the land of Magog,
the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal,
and prophesy against him and say,
Thus says the Lord GOD :
Behold, I am against you, O Gog,
chief prince of Meshech and Tubal;
and I will turn you about, and
put hooks into your jaws, and I
will bring you forth, and all your
army, horses and horsemen, all of them
clothed in full armor, a great company,
all of them with buckler and shield,
wielding swords; Persia, Cush, and Put are
with them, all of them with shield
and helmet; Gomer and all his hordes;
Beth-togar'mah from the uttermost parts of the
north with all his hordes--many peoples
are with you."Be ready and keep
ready, you and all the hosts that
are assembled about you, and be a guard
for them. After many days you will
be mustered; in the latter years you
will go against the land that is
restored from war, the land where people
were gathered from many nations upon the
mountains of Israel, which had been a
continual waste; its people were brought out
from the nations and now dwell securely,
all of them.

(The Following Geographical Information taken from

Hal Lindsey, pp. 63-71.)

In the biblical chapter commonly referred to
as the "Table of Nations" (Genesis 10),
scholars identify the lands, kingdoms,countries and
cities that are mentioned in the Ezekiel
prophecies. They are described as the grandsons
of Noah through his son Japheth, with
the exception of Rosh.(Genesis 10:1,2)
Magog is the second son, Tubal is
the fifth son and Meschech is
the sixth son.

Josephus the Historian said, "Magog is called
the Scythians by the Greeks. "He said
they lived in the northern regions above
the Caucasus mountains.

Pliny the Roman Historian noted that the
Scythians were the principle part of the
people who make up modern Russia.

The Greek name "Moschi" derived from the
Hebrew name Meshech is the source of
the name for the city of Moscow.
Tubal is from the founder of the
Tibereni, a people dwelling to the west of Moscow on
the Black Sea.

German scholar Dr. Keil said of Rosh :
"The Byzantine and Arabic writers frequently mention
a people called Ros and Rus, dwelling
in the country of Taurus, and reckoned
among the Scythian tribes."

Direction in the Bible is always from the
perspective of Israel. "The land to the
North" can only be Russia. Amazingly, Ezekiel
prophesied the rise of this atheistic world
power 2600 years ago.

The Allies mentioned in the Ezekiel
prophecies are the following :

• 
  Persia is :
  modern day Iran.

• 
  Cush is :
  currently Ethiopia, and the nations adjacent to
  the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.

• 
  Put is :
  modern day Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco.

• 
  Gomer is :
  Germany and the Slovaks in Eastern Europe.

• 
  All its Hordes
  "include Eastern Europe and Northern Asia.

The Bible says that Egypt, the Arabic
nations and countries of Africa will form
an alliance, a sphere of power noted
as the "King of the South." Allied
with Russia, the "King of the North,"
this formidable confederacy will rise up
against the restored state of Israel. It is
amazing to see that unfolding today.

Thus says the Lord GOD: Are you
he of whom I spoke in former
days by my servants the prophets of
Israel, who in those days prophesied for
years that I would bring you against
them ? But on that day, when
Gog shall come against the land of
Israel, says the Lord GOD, my wrath
will be roused. For in my jealousy
and in my blazing wrath I declare,
On that day there shall be a
great shaking in the land of Israel;
the fish of the sea, and the
birds of the air, and the beasts
of the field, and all creeping things
that creep on the ground, and all
the men that are upon the face
of the earth, shall quake at my
presence, and the mountains shall be thrown
down, and the cliffs shall fall, and
every wall shall tumble to the ground.
Ezekiel 38:17-20

Israel seems to be part of every
nightly newscast. Given its size and
population, why would this be ? And it
has persisted throughout recorded human
history. The city of Jerusalem is mentioned
in the Bible over 800 times in more than
740 verses, far more than any other city.

The final battle of Armageddon is to
take place in the Valley of Meggido
outside of Jerusalem. Napoleon once looked
down on the city and called it an
ideal battleground. The Lord says that
during the final seven years of the current
age, all of the armies of the
world will gather there to fight. After
the seven year period, he will make
his final return to defeat Satan and
set up his 1000 years of heaven
on earth in New Jerusalem. It is
also interesting to note that we are
at a point where man is nearly
6,000 years old and the 7th "day,"
which has always been a day of
rest, is right around the corner.

So the angel swung his sickle on
the earth and gathered the vintage of
the earth, and threw it into the
great wine press of the wrath of
God; and the wine press was trodden
outside the city, and blood flowed from
the wine press, as high as a
horse's bridle, for two hundred miles.
Revelation 14:19,20

In those days Judah will be saved
and Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this
is the name by which it will
be called: " The LORD is our righteousness. "
Jeremiah 33:16

For behold, in those days and at
that time, when I restore the fortunes
of Judah and Jerusalem.
Joel 3:1

Behold, he is coming with the clouds,
and every eye will see him, every
one who pierced him; and all tribes
of the earth will wail on account
of him. Even so. Amen.
