Gardenia RPG Keyboard Shortcuts
Keyboard Shortcuts
To make things faster and easier for you, the player, this game allows you to type in shortcuts for your actions instead of typing out long sentences. In the case of repetitive actions, this can be extremely helpful.
Note: The prefix # Should come before any keyboard shortcut so that the game master does not get confused.
Here is a list of shortcuts you may use:
- ^ (Item)%(Character): Trade an item to a character. (Ex: Player types "#^ Hammer % Scott." The GM replies, "Scott shrugs and takes the hammer.")
- &(ingredient)+(ingredient): To mix ingredients together while cooking. (Ex: Player types "#&F+S+M." The Game Master replies, "Okay, you mix together a Fruit Packet, Seafood and Meat together. You've just made monster food."
- C: To commence cooking. In some cases where you are ejected from a cooking showdown, this might be needed. (Ex: Player types "#C." GM: "You start cooking.")
- T (Character's Name): Engage a character in conversation. (Ex: Player types "#T Pudgy." The GM replies, "You go up to Pudgy and talk to him. `Hello!'")
- *(game): To commence a game. In some cases, like in poker, this will imply that you are giving money to the person in charge of the game. (Ex: Player types "#*P." The GM says, "Okay, you go back to the blackjack table, set down your chips, and start another game.")

- P3: To make peace by competition. (Ex: The player types "#P3." GM: "Grody requests that Og compete with him in a cookoff instead. Og shrugs and leads him to a kitchen."
- R: To flee battle. (Ex: Player types "#P4." GM: "You run away from the monster."
- P5: To lecture, talk or argue the enemy into peace. (Ex: Player types "#P5." GM: "Bob opens his mouth and begins to lecture on the merits of foot fungus. Og gets so bored that he falls asleep. You can now sneak away."

- U(item)%(character): To use an item on a character or object. (Ex: Player: "#URing%Goblin." GM: "You put the ring on the stone goblin. A door opens."
Macros
In addition to using keyboard shortcuts, you may also use something called a "macro". A macro is a series of commands you give characters during battle. This is especially useful when playing with multiple NPC's. You can tell one character to fight, another to heal, another one to hide, another one to steal, whatever you want.
Creating Macros
To create a macro, you need to do the following:
- Type #=@
- Type in the number you assign to your macro.
- Explain the macro. (Ex: The player types "#=@1: Darkwolf(#D), Cat(#A)." The GM then will recognize the players Macro 1 to be "Darkwolf-defend, Cat-attack.")
Using Macros
When you are engaged in combat, merely type #@1, or whatever number you have assigned as your macro. You should be careful, though. If your macro is to shoot a gun at something, you might run out of bullets, and the macro will cause the character to point his gun uselessly at the target instead of fighting.
