Is he a prisoner
To his limb?
Why can't he soar
Becoming flight
Like all the rest?
Or is this leaf
Destined to this lonely life
Hanging on that branch so high?
Is his allegiance only loyal
To everlasting aloneness?
Does he pine up there
On that giant oak tree?
Cold, blown for months…
No release.
He knows he did the job
He must know its time to go
Isn't his earthly home
Eager for him to press on?
Oh how loyal we often feel
When time moves on
And we stand still
Clinging to every has been
We have ever known
Yet unknown that we too
Are eager for our release…
Release from bodys
Becoming only Spirit.
But Spirit is what we are now!
And if I only knew.
