Todd's 66 Chevelle Bodywork
(updated 5/22/00)
This page is under construction
Here is the Chevelle before it was completely stripped.
Todd and Andy applied stripper to the body panels and then used a high pressure sprayer and blasted the 7-9 layers of paint right off.

was clean.
The front fenders.... where else but in the kitchen!!!
The pass. fender is in pretty good shape except for the lower rocker panel area. The drivers has some areas that will need a lot of dolly and patch work.
Andy made a float out of an old piece of conduit and a bolt (very ingenious) to get the drivers fender back in to shape. The rocker area has been patched as well and the inside of the fender painted silver and then sprayed with chipguard.
Undercarrage and frame.
Todd smoothing out the inner fenders. He has cut out some of the stamping marks and also has smoothed the area of the battery tray since he is relocating the battery to the trunk. Not even factory dents will remain when the car is done! To see the finished inner fenderwells, click here.
Someone had backed into something before. The "original" bumper showed that it had been straightend, and both rear qtr. panels showed signs of being hit. These areas had been fixed before, but not to Todds liking. Everything was cut out and hand fabricated, piece by piece.
On the left is the radiator support. The engine compartment side is painted the silver of the firewall. The grille side, as well as the headlight buckets, is getting shot with chassis black. On the right is the repop SS hood. Very little work was needed. It's sitting out of the way in Todd's hallway. To see the finished underside of the hood, click here.
As of 5/22/00, Todd has painted the underside of the hood, trunk, door jambs, cowl, valance, windshield pillars, dash, taillight housings, and several small parts the Viper Blue. Check them outTo see the finished inner fenderwells, click here.
