Todd's 66 Chevelle Suspension

(updated 2/11/00)
This page is under construction
Todd and Andy blasted the frame and had it painted Silver in less than a week. The steering linkage, steering box, and springs were painted the same color as the frame with some black added. The subtle difference is very trick.

The original 10 bolt re-installed. Todd was planning on installing his brothers 12 bolt
with 4:11s but decided to wait and see if he wants to go with a big block.
He also plans on installing boxed control arms once the car is back together.

Todd and Andy have decided to go with Stainless bolts throughout the suspension
Regular stainless bolts would be good, but Todd and Andy have gone one step further.
Every bolt has been smoothed and polished mirror bright.

The pictures do not do the hardware justice. It is truly stunning to see. Along with the polished stainless nuts/bolts, Todd and Andy handmade the castlenuts for the tie rod ends. They also made polished stainless washers the exact size of the castlenuts, as well as polished cotter pins!

Also fabricated, were a set of spacers for the upper control arms. These were made out of aluminum the exact thickness as the original spacers.
Truly Trick. Rad Rodding at its best!
These are the aluminum 4 piston calipers that Todd and Andy are modifying to fit the Chevelle. Only slight modifications were needed. All they had to do was mill the inner edges of the rotor, make a bracket for the caliper, fabricate a new bumpstop (no metal on metal contact here!)and make their own rotor seal out of two seals. Notice the tack welds around the edge of the inner seal below. The wheel spacer in the second pic above won't be needed. There was concern about wheel clearance once the caliper was bolted up, but there is plenty of room.

More pics as the suspension and brakes are finished up!
