How much maintenance is required to operate a site?

Generally this depends on the amount of information that is being exchanged on your site on a daily or monthly bases.  You determine the amount and the size of the updates you wish.  

 

What does my monthly Maintenance Package Include?

My monthly maintenance package includes routine checks of your web site to assure all links are working and the site is functioning the way it should be.  This is done every two weeks, generally on a Sunday, so if the site needs to be shut down for repairs, it should not affect the majority of your users.  Additional updates do take time, and the additional time for that change in programming is also included in the monthly charge.  The adding of large photos, databases, or other spreadsheets, is an additional charge.  Also, if the update requires adding additional pages to your site, then an additional charge would apply.  The monthly package is for the initial programming only, new pages will not fall under the monthly maintenance package price until after they are purchased.

  

Do I have to have a monthly package, if I don't plan on doing any updating?

No, you can use the load it and forget it method.  However, problems do arise from time to time.  Even the minimum monthly package could prove useful in assuring your site is functioning properly.  Rates are much higher to repair a site without a monthly maintenance package.
