Dear Mrs. McCloud,
I am writing this letter to you at the request of your husband. He was wounded two days ago while on patrol. His wounds are not life-threatening I am happy to say, but he has been given morphine to ease his pain and is unable to write to you right now. He wanted me to tell you what happened, and to let you know not to worry about him. The doctor says he will be just fine in a few days, and he will write to you as soon as he can.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Annie Snow
