Parting
Parting
* * * * * *
My ship set sail at sunset,
a dismal time to go; and alone,
I sailed into the dusk, in evening's somber
glow. I heard the engines revving as your plane
prepared its flight; we departed both together, though
separate that night. For you flew into the future as
I fell into the past; immersed in memories of
you, my sail set at half mast. My ship of
dreams slid silent toward horizon's
dimming shore, in that haunting
quiet night where I could
never see you more.
