The plane came to a roll on the landway. 20 minutes later, Laurie and her family were walking off the plane. When Laurie stepped into the airport, a guy came running to her.
"Laurie! Welcome to Tulsa!" shouted a familiar male voice.
"Taylor! What are you doing here?" Laurie asked excitedly. They gave each other a hug.
"Well, I figured you would have wanted someone to meet you here. It's a little depressing walking off a plane and not having anyone to meet you," he said.
"Yeah, you got that right."
Laurie's mom came up to her. "Honey, who is your friend?" she asked politely.
Taylor extended his hand. "Hi, I'm Taylor Hanson. I met Laurie at a Third Eye Blind concert in St. Louis."
"That's nice. I'm Laurie's mother, Mrs. Woodman." Mrs. Woodman shook his hand. "Where do you live, Taylor?"
"I live in Glenpool, like you guys."
"Do you need a ride home?"
"Actually, my dad is here," said Taylor. He turned to his dad. "Dad, come meet the Woodman's!' he shouted.
A semi tall man came over to them. "Hi, I'm Walker Hanson, Taylor's dad." Mr. Hanson shook Mrs. Woodman's hand.
"Hi, I'm Michelle Woodman, Laurie's mom."
"Pleasure to meet you," he said.
"Thank you, same here." Just then, Mr. Woodman came over with the boys. "Walker, this is my husband, Alex Woodman, and our sons Andy and Mike."
"Hi, Walker," said Mr. Woodman. They shook hands.
"Hi, Alex," said Mr. Hanson
"Hi, Mr. Hanson," said the boys in unison.
"Hello boys," said Mr. Hanson. "How are you?"
"Fine, thank you. You?" asked Andy.
"I'm great."
Mike was hiding behind Mr. Woodman. "He's a little shy," explained Mrs. Woodman.
"No problem. Where in Glenpool do you live?"
"We moved on Briarcourt," said Mr. Woodman.
"Oh, okay. We live one street over, on Briarwood," said Mr. Hanson. He put a hand on Taylor's shoulder. "Well, son, lets head on home so Laurie and her family can get their things and get settled in."
"Okay dad," said Taylor. He turned to Laurie. "Bye Laurie," he said. "Bye Mr. And Mrs. Woodman," he said.
"Bye Taylor," Mr. And Mrs. Woodman said.
"See you later," said Laurie.
Taylor waved and he walked out of the terminal with his dad. Laurie and their family got a taxi and went to their new house. After about 20 minutes, the cab pulled up the driveway of a huge house. Laurie saw their red Blazer in the driveway, and she knew it was her house.
"Whoa," breathed Laurie. "The house is huge!"
They got out of the cab. Mr. Woodson paid the driver. They all walked up the driveway and to the door. Mr. Woodson fished around in his pocket for his keys and found them. He put the key in the lock and opened the door. The house was already carpeted with their furniture set up. There were boxes and boxes piled in the living room of their belongings.
"Well, guys, what do you think of our house?" asked Mr. Woodman.
"It's awesome," said Andy.
"Cool," said Mike.
"It's pretty nice," Laurie managed to say. Actually, she thought the house was wonderful, but she still missed her friends. Mrs. Woodson reached over and ruffled Laurie's hair.
"Lets start getting stuff moved to the right places," she said. They started dividing the boxes into groups, kitchen stuff, Andy's room, Laurie's room, bathroom, etc. After about an hour or so, every box was divided up and in a half hour, every box was in the right room. Laurie flopped down on her bed and surveyed her room. Tan carpeting, a few windows, blue trim around the room. It was a pretty nice room, she did admit to herself. She started unpacking her things, first her CDs and stereo, putting her stereo in the newly purchased entertainment center. She turned on Middle of Nowhere as she unpacked. While Laurie was putting her clothes away, she heard a shout from the house facing hers.
"Hey Laurie!" yelled Taylor.
Laurie leaned out her already opened window. "Taylor? What are you doing?"
"I live here!"
"You serious?'
"Yeah! Come over when you're done unpacking!"
"Okay, if I can!" Laurie ducked back in her window. She finished putting her clothes away and put her books on the bookshelf. She put up her posters and put away her games in the closet. After a few more finishing touches, Laurie was actually done. True, she now needed to vacuum and dust, and boxes were scattered all over her room, but that could wait until later.
Laurie went down a flight of stairs and found her mother putting things away in the kitchen.
"Mom, I'll be at Taylor's," she said.
Her mom turned around and looked at her. "Okay, dear. Be back soon!"
"I will Mom! Bye!" Laurie raced outside the back door of their house and into the Hanson's yard. She saw Isaac leaning against a tree, writing something. She stopped and stood next to him.
"Hey, Ike. What's up?" she asked.
Ike looked up and smiled at her. "Not much. I just came out here to work on some writing. It can get pretty crazy inside," he said, smiling.
"Oh, okay. I understand. Can I see what you're writing, or is it personal?" she asked.
Ike turned a little red. "It is kinda personal……." He said.
"Oh, okay. I understand. Is Taylor inside?" she asked.
"Yeah. Go ahead and go on in," he said.
"Thanks. Bye Ike!" she said as she ran into the house.
Ike watched her run in. "Bye, Laurie," he said softly.
