an almost perfect color for your text, web
page background or table background..The
keyword is almost. Once you find a color that
is close to what you had in mind, you can
adjust it, to get the perfect color.
How???,
by learning the RGB hex color code..With over
6,000,000 possible colors, you will find
that perfect color. Most color charts will
give you the name of the color and the
code.
example: color; black code; #000000
The code
has six digits. the first two
control the intensity of Red, the second two,
Green, and the last two, Blue (R-G-B, get
it?).
Now here's where most people get thrown.
these pairs are not your usual ten digit
numbers, they're base 16.
0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,a,b,c,d,e,f, then
10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,1a,1b,1c,etc.et
c.etc. on up to ff.
That goes for each pair, so "#000000 would be
zero intensity of all colors, or black.
"#ffffff" full intensity for all colors, or
white.
"#ff0000" would be full intensity for red
only, zero for the others, so the color would
be bright red. The same applies for green and
blue.

Mixing different
intensities of two or three colors will
produce different hues and shades. #a52a2a,
for example, will result in brown...If you
want to experiment with only one color, say
blue, a lower number #000044, would produce a
darker blue, whereas a higher number #000099
would produce a lighter, brighter, more
intense blue
Here's an example. Say
you want a purple background for your
webpage. You've gone to a color chart and
found a purple (#700070) that is almost
perfect, but needs to be just slightly more
blue. You can either lower the red (#500070)
or raise the blue (#700090). Either way,
you'll have the color you want....lowering
the red will give you a darker version of
your color, raising the blue will give you a
brighter version....also, if you want a more
muted, subtle version, you can add a little
green (#502270) or (#702290)
If you
practice and experiment alot, in time you
won't need color charts at
all....enjoy...
