Tarot is like a new language. Each card is a word given by the personal or collective unconscious. When you interpret the cards ~ you translate the
unconscious words into symbols and forms your conscious mind can understand. Access to the personal and collective unconscious is one of the
secrets to the Tarots accuracy.
The personal consciousness is a storehouse of everything seen ~ heard ~ and experienced since birth. The Tarot is an accessible and effective tool to
unlock the personal subconscious.
The collective unconscious is a common pool of human experience from mans distant origins to the present. This knowledge is shared by all
humanity.
Tarot works by accessing what we already know about ourselves and future choices. The mysterious part of ourselves that holds the unconscious
answers may be considered our true self. Learning to consult the Tarot is simply training yourself to understand the language of your true self.
YOUR ATTITUDE BEFORE CONSULTING THE TAROT
Clear your mind and the area before you begin. Make as sure as you can there will be no disruptions. Ask for guidance and insight to interpret
accurately and wisely.
Tarot should be approached seriously and with humility ~ just as you would approach a wise teacher or counselor for advise. You can ask about
different facets of the same question or wait a week or so to repeat the original question. In that time lapse ~ things related to the situation may have
changed somewhat and can give new insights. It is not wise to ask the same question over and over at the same consultation.
FREE WILL AND PREDESTINATION
Why are some predicted events so literal and accurate at times while at other times ~ events don't happen as expected?
One view is that there is a strong tendency for events to follow the path of least resistance. It takes an effort of will to go against the inertia of
following that tendency to its conclusion. Most people will follow the path of habit instead of breaking this pattern.
There seem to be some events in everyone's life that are destined to occur; but they are few compared to those we can affect through free will.
