Catholic Stewardship Appeal – As of January 10, Our Lady, Help of Christians parishioners have contributed $4755.00 for this appeal. This is 90% of our $5,274.00 goal. This represents 30 parishioners. As always thank you for your continued support of our parish and the Diocese of Jefferson City.

 

Vocation Office and Retired Priests Our part to contribute to the training of future priests and their formation and priestly retirement this year is $2,405. Please use the envelope marked Vocation Office & Priestly Retirement in your packet for this special collection. Collected to date is $2537.00.

 

CYO Coffee and Donuts & Jewelry Display/Sale  - On Sunday, February 6, during CYO Coffee and Donuts, there also will be a jewelry display/sale at school.

 

CYO Pizza Party and Ice Skating - The CYO plans to enjoy a pizza party lunch at Pizza Haus followed by skating at the Jefferson City Ice Arena in Jefferson City from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 6.  If you are a parent and can drive, please let your teen know by Wednesday, February 2.  We will meet that day in the school parking lot – time to be announced later.

 

Ladies Sodality News – The ladies will have their meeting on February 1 at 7 pm at school. The future Bingo dates are February 13 at 1 pm and March 6 at 1 pm.

 

Why Catholic?  - Why Catholic? will begin this week on Thursday, February 3 at 7:30 at the Rectory.

 

St. Mary School News – Catholic Schools Week –    A+ for America

  • Monday – Wear Red, White and Blue clothing. We will be making collages in the afternoon and decorating our school.
  • Tuesday – Movie and Popcorn party in the afternoon.
  • Wednesday – Bowling from 9am to 11am and then  Ryan’s for lunch.
  • Thursday- Mission Carnival to raise money for the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
  • Friday – Mass at 11a.m. with a family lunch following. Students are able to leave after lunch.

 

Frankenstein CYO Breakfast – Sunday, March 6 - Mark your calendars and plan to attend the Annual CYO Breakfast.  We will serve fresh country linked sausage, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs with juice and coffee.  We hope you can join us!

 

Link Sausage Sales - The CYO will be taking orders for fresh linked sausage for $3 per pound and packaged in 5-lb. bags.  Orders must be paid and picked up the morning of the CYO Breakfast which is Sunday, March 6.  Please have your orders in by February 27.  No deliveries, please.  Contact Donna Backes at 897-4448, if you would like to order.

4-H News – The Bonnots Mill Eagles 4-H Club will be collecting food for the Good Shepherd Center through the month of January. There will be a box for your donations in the back of church

 

Catholic Knights- Branch 1152 will meet at BJ’s Restaurant at 8 am on Tuesday, February 1.

 

Soccer Registration - The Westphalia Soccer Club will have registration for the spring season at the Westphalia K of C soccer fields on Saturday, February 5, 12 – 5 PM; Sunday, February 6, 8 AM – 1 PM; Monday, February 7, 6 -7 PM; and Tuesday, February 8, 5 -7 PM. Bingo –There will be Bingo at Sacred Heart School in Rich Fountain. Chili, chili dogs, hot dogs, drinks and desserts will be served starting at noon. Bingo games from 12:30- 4 pm. Bingo dates are February 6 and March 6.

Simon Scholarship  - William H. (Bill) Simon Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to Catholic students who are in financial need for the purpose of attending an accredited college or university of the student’s choice.  Scholarship applications are available at the rectory.  Deadline to submit is March 31.

 

Stewardship Quote In today’s Gospel, Jesus begins his sermon on the mount with a series of blessings, the Beatitudes.  The Beatitudes are a summary of the fundamental attitude of a Christian steward. Make it a point to reflect in this gospel reading during the week.  Identify the blessing with which you most identify?  Which one is the most challenging for you?
