Doesn't look all that bad from the top but from underneath it was bad. Years of a leaky tranny had made the undercarriage a gooey, oily mess. The emergency brake cable supports weren't even attatched to anything.

The previous owner had decided that a quick fix was in order so he arc welded "patch panels" in place. The panels, as best I can figure, were taken from an appliance of some sort, and a construction safety sign. The fit of these panels were less than desireable. The rear seat side panels never fit right and the numerous carpet pads used to keep the road noise down only held moisture.

What was left after a few hours. The pass side rear was pretty representative of what remained of the orig. floor pan. As my buddy Darren said, the convertible should have been in the junkyard more than the car we cut the "new" pan out of!

What was left. Which isn't much! The last pic is of the replacement pan cut out of a 65 Dart. We took the whole pan, rockers and all and then drilled out (or air chisled when it took to long!) the spot welds. The tranny hump was still good in the convertible so I decided to leave it in for a reference line for the new pan. We cut the new pan down the center and have patched the questionable areas and did the floor modifications for the new 727 tranny.
As of Sep. 13, the Floorpan is in and done! It took a good 3 weeks from start to finish but it is well worth it. I still have some more to do before it is driveable again though. I have to install the 20:1 manual box, convert the column shift p/s column to a manual, and reinstall the interior. The best part will be when I install that new carpet!

More pictures as progress continues.

This is the pass. side. On the left is the top of the frame connector where it pokes through the pan. On the right is the whole pan before I POR 15d it.

This is the drivers side. I PORd some of the top before I installed the pan. The right picture is the access hole I cut in the pan to get to the tranny lines, kickdown linkages, band adjuster etc. I used the original piece I cut out and added some tabs around it. A couple of "nutserts" and I'll have easy access!

Here is the floorpan complete! PORd both the top and bottom of the pan.
Also sealed up all the seams and made sure every crevase was coated and filled.

NO MORE RUST!!! EVER!!!! (hopefully)

Brand new ACC carpet! Starting to come back together!

Drop me a line!
