This painting brings so many mixed feelings when I look at it. It is a bright, beautiful day in France. The contrast between the baby and the old European wall in the background gives you a sense of the cycle of life. The old wall symbolizes that age can be as beautiful as youth. There is also a juxtapose between the strength in the father's arm and the determined look on his face and the gentle bond you can feel he shares with his young son.
