The Dab Lizard has an interesting tail, which is muscular and covered with hard, sharp spikes. If threatened by a predator, the Dab Lizard runs to its burrow. If the predator tries to crawl down the hole, it will run in to the spiked tail. Ouch! If the Dab Lizard is caught out in the open, it will swing its tail back and forth to defend itself. Imagine being whacked on the nose by a tail like that. That would definitely leave a mark. It is no surprise that predators usually leave the Dab Lizard alone.
