My Thoughts

I know Mr. Brand has appeared in many more productions than I have listed; these were just the ones I could personally account for. I was absolutely captivated by his portrayal of the prince, Don Pedro, in Much Ado About Nothing. His loneliness and desire were so great, so palpable, yet he never fell from his sense of honor. And at the end when he kissed Beatrice's veil, unnoticed by the others, I felt like crying--even in the midst of all the joy of the two couples. I also know he plays a magnificent Fred in A Christmas Carol. I look forward to seeing more of his work.

I must say that it has been a long time since I have seen a play that so moved me like Old Wicked Songs did. Robert was absolutely amazing in it--his accent was flawless, his musical ability impressive, and his character totally believable. I just don't see good theatre like that every day.

I also wanted to mention that this is the second season that I have been working A Christmas Carol at The Rep. It's fun to see what has changed and what has remained the same. I want to comment that Fred is great. I don't know that I appreciated his role last season, but Robert does a marvelous job.

Time for paragraph 4 about Bob....Every time I see him, there is something else that impresses me. I worked my third Season of A Christmas Carol and he just keeps getting better. This season he was under the direction of his charming wife, Linda Ade Brand (whom I have worked with on La Traviata at UMKC and was thoroughly impressed by) and his character is never the same, yet it is always Fred. How wonderful to be able to know a character so well that you can change him, and yet not change him.
