C. Ray Story, 69, of Vine Grove, KY passed away Monday, August 4, 2008 at the North Hardin Health & Rehabilitation Center, Radcliff, KY.

Mr. Story was Deputy Superintendent, Hardin County Schools July 1988 – August 1995, Associate Superintendent Hardin County Schools August 1995 – August 1998, Principal, North Hardin High School August 1967 – June 1988, Assistant Principal, North Hardin High School August 1965 – June 1967, English Teacher, North Hardin High School August 1963 – June 1965, Sixth Grade Teacher, Vine Grove Elementary School September 1960 – June 1963.

Offices he held includes: President - Kentucky Association of Secondary School Principals, Board of Directors - Kentucky Association of Secondary School Principals, President – Fourth District Kentucky Association of Secondary School Principals, President – Fourth District Kentucky Association of School Administrators, Served twice as President of Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control, President – Campbellsville College Alumni Association, Two term member Elizabethtown Community College Advisory Board. Mr. Story was also a Charter President – Vine Grove Optimist Club, Chairperson – 1st Vine Grove Planning & Zoning Commission, Member of Hardin County Public Library Board and Acting Member of Valley View Baptist Church.

Some of his honors include: 2 time recipient of Radcliff Rotary Club Youth Service Award, Radcliff Rotary Club Vocational Award, Radcliff Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow Award, Campbellsville College Distinguished Alumnus Award, North Hardin Chamber of Commerce Presidential Award, North Hardin Lions Club Community Service Award, Radcliff Jaycees Outstanding Young Man Award, Fifth Region Athletic Directors Hall of Fame. Ray was honored by North Hardin High School by naming the football stadium Ray Story Stadium.

Preceded in death by: His parents Cart & Bertha Story, 2 brothers Willard Story, Harold Story, 2 sisters Georgia Padgett and Selma Reynolds.

Survivors include: His loving wife of 44 years Sue Cecil Story of Vine Grove, KY, 2 sons Mark Story of Lexington, KY, Tim Story of Vine Grove, KY, 3 brothers Darrel Story, Glen Story, Randall Story all of Waynesburg, KY, 2 sisters Wilma Gooch of Stanford, KY, Phyllis McMichael of Leitchfield, KY, numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2008 at Valley View Baptist Church, Vine Grove, KY with Rev. K. Christian Burton and Rev. Raymond Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the North Hardin Memorial Gardens, Radcliff, KY.

Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the Valley View Baptist Church Christian Life Center, Vine Grove, KY and after 2 p.m. Friday at Valley View Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the North Hardin Memorial Gardens, Radcliff, KY.
