I heard about your trip

I heard about your souvenirs

I heard about the cool breeze, in the cool nights,

And the cool guys that you spent them with

Nick slowly sat down as he stared completely dumbfounded at the pictures that were in his tight grip. Where did they come from? Who had taken them? And most importmantly who were the guys that his girlfriend, Jennifer, was with? And why was she with them? She was supposed to be on a business trip. Nick sifted slowly through the stack of pictures while his heart continued to break with each image. The last picture was of Jennifer kissing one of the guys she was with. Nick's heart took a huge drop to the floor as he stared at the picture, slienting praying that he was seeing things. That, that wasn't her kissing another guy.

Nick angrily threw the stack of pictures onto the floor as he sat back in the chair putting his hand over his eyes. He sat back up leaning his elbows on his knees with his head in his hands. He eyed the envelope the pictures came in and grabbed it. He looked on the outside, once again, looking for an address or something and then he looked inside and found nothing.

Well I guess I should have heard of them from you

I guess I should have head of them from you

Nick sat in the living room awaiting Jennifer's return. He didn't know what he was going to say to her. He didn't even know if he was going to say anything to her. Maybe she'd tell him. He laughed at the thought, he knew she wouldn't. But she should. She should be able to tell him. Unless...

Nick's thoughts were interrupted as she unlocked the front door. She walked in and immediately smiled as she looked over at Nick. She quickly set her things down and walked over to him. She sat on his lap and kissed him gently, but he just sat there. She pulled away looking at him strangely.

"What's wrong baby?" She asked running one of her hands through his hair.

Nick shook his head and smiled weakly at her.

She eyed him suspicously and then tried to kiss him again, he didn't move away from her this time but it felt weird and awkward. She pulled away and then got off his lap and went into the other room, without a word.

Nick watched her walk around the house all day acting as if nothing had happened. Nothing went on, she did nothing wrong. He was even more upset now, how long had this been going on? Did she do this all the time when she left town? How could she act like that? Like nothing happened?

"How come you didn't call me while you were away?"

Jennifer rolled over in the bed facing him. "I tried but the phone was busy."

Nick nodded and then rolled onto his side. He stared at the wall. She lied. How could the phone be busy when he was never on it? And when there was call waiting? And if the phone was busy she could have called the cell phone. There was so many possible ways she could have reached him, if she truly wanted to.

So kiss me hard

Cause this will be the last time that I let you

You will be back someday

And this awkward kiss that tells of other people's lips will be of service

To keeping you away

"Jennifer stop." Nick said against her lips as she tried to kiss him roughly.

She pulled away and looked at him. "What's wrong with you?"

Nick sighed and pulled the picture of her kissing the guy out of his pocket and tossed it to her. She opened it and gasped. She was speechless. Nick shook his head and he rubbed his hand over his face.

"Where did you get these?" She whispered.

Nick looked over at her and then back down at the floor. "It doesn't matter. I can't be with you anymore." He replied simply and then stood up and walked out of the room, leaving her alone.

"You can't live without me, we both know that!" She yelled from the other room as Nick walked outside onto the paito in the backyard.

He sat down thinking about what she said; she had a point he might not be able to live without her. But the mere thought of her kissing someone else would definitely help in moving on away from her.

He had always been true to her no matter what, no matter how long or far away he was from her, he remained faithful to her. How could he not? He loved her.

He knew that she'd come crawling back to him, but he had to remember the picture of her and the other guy. That had to be enough to keep her away.

I heard about your regrets

I heard you were feeling sorry

I heard from someone that you wish you could set things right between us

Well I guess I should have heard of that from you

I guess I should have heard of that from you

"Come on man just give her a chance to explain."

"AJ, you don't understand. I don't think you'll ever understand. You know that's cool too. But I can't give her another chance, she doesn't deserve it."

"She's sorry."

"Well, that's great for her."

"She wants to get back together."

"I know. And she should know the answer."

"Nick, you're being unreasonable."

"No I'm not. If she really wanted to talk to me she'd find a way. It's not all that hard, you know. And she could be the one to tell me this stuff. Don't you think?"

AJ was silent on the other end of the phone.

"I think I've made my point. Later." Nick replied as he hung up the phone.

I'm waiting for blood to flow to my fingers

I'll be alright when my hands get warm

Ignoring the phone, I'd rather say nothing

I'd rather you'd never heard my voice

You're calling too late

You're calling too late...

The phone began to ring once again, this was almost the twentith time she started over with her calls. She had been calling constatnly for the past four hours. Nick sat next to the phone ignoring it. He didn't want to talk to her. What would he say? He couldn't even think of anything to say to her. He had nothing to say. Well he had plenty on his mind, but nothing was worth it anymore.

Finally, sighing he picked up the phone and sat there. He didn't say anything she didn't say anything.

"Nick?" She asked quietly breaking the silence.

"You're too late." He said and hung up the phone smiling.
