In Loving Memory of
E. T. JOHNSON
March 2, 1982 - January 16, 1996

In 1982, Janet Johnson moved to Texas. In her new home, Janet realized she needed another Saimese cat to fill a void that had been created by the loss of Sammy, a Siamese who had lived with her in Iowa. Janet filled out pre-adoption papers at the Humane Society, and told them she only wanted a Siamese cat. As luck would have it, the Humane Society had one female Siamese approximately eight months old. The kitten had come in just six days prior, in very poor condition, nearly starved. Janet took one look at the pathetic and emaciated little kitten they offered, and asked to hold her. Once, in Janet's arms, the kitten stretched her long, skinny neck and tilted her thin, triangle-shaped face (with those sad, but beautiful blue eyes) and looked directly at Janet.

As fate would have it, Janet had just seen the movie E. T. She knew instantly this was a perfect match! "I'll take her -- she's my little E.T." Janet said, scooping the bundle up and taking her home.

For over fourten years, Janet and E.T. shared a wonderful life together. They bonded immediately and Janet proudly watched as E.T. became a beautiful cat! Janet and E.T. slept together every night. Whenever Janet came home from work, E. T. was always waiting at the door for her. E.T. was Janet's "child," and the best a mom could ask for!

As E. T. grew older, Janet noticed signs of age, even though she tried to ignore them. Soon, Janet was forced to consider having E.T. put down. On Janet and E.T.s last trip to the vet together, Janet prayed and cried. When she arrived back home without E. T., Janet felt as though her heart had been ripped out. She had left a big part of herself at the vet's office that day.

Janet's cousin gave her a copy of "The Rainbow Bridge." Through tears, Janet felt somewhat better, as she realized that E. T. thanked her for ending her suffering. Relief came in knowing that E.T. would be waiting for her at the "Rainbow Bridge.

"I love you still, my little E.T.! You remain in my heart!"

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain up your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together....Author Unknown
