The 2006 season was a definite "bump in the road" in the development of the FV baseball program. Some individual talent really shined at times, as evidenced by the signings of several players to some top NCAA D-I and D-II programs. And the team did manage to upset several nationally ranked teams throughout the course of the year. However, they were never able to put that type of play together consistently. A strong finish saw them win two games in the Region XVI tournament, including one over the #1 seed.
