Lansing vs. Durant

The race is on! Who will be the next district attorney for the city of Port Charles? John Durant or Ric Lansing?

Ric was in the park playing with Kristina when he was approached by John Durant. Within moments, John had torn Ric apart, chastizing the younger man for not putting away men the likes of Lorenzo Alcazar and Sonny Corinthos. Ric flat out stated that he was doing the best he could. Men like Lorenzo and Sonny had built nearly indestructable walls of defense around them. No matter what he could do, they seemed to slip through the cracks. John didn't want to hear excuses. He thought that Ric should be able to get his hands on Alcazar and Corinthos. John believed if were in the role of DA he would have gotten them by now. The statement gave him a thought - he was going to run for DA. Ric flat out told him he would have one hell of a fight on his hands!

John left Ric, immediately pulling out his phone to call Reese, inadvertingly interuppting her night with William Windsor. He asked her to help him find information on Ric. Information that would help him win the race. After a few moments of deliberation, Reese reluctantly gave in. She didn't want John to use her daughter against her. John then called Mac and questioned him on the status of Faith's case, implying that the PCPD weren't doing their job. Mac took offense to this stating that they were doing the best they could but the trail had run cold. He couldn't make the evidence fit certain people so they were practically at stage one. He reminded John that they were on the same side and attacking the PCPD for their hard work wasn't going to win him any points.

While he waited for Reese to dig up some information on Ric, John decided to do a little searching of his own. Something seemed wrong with the case of who murdered Faith and he let himself into the investigation. His first stop - going to the member of the crime lab who had examined the murder weapon. The intial report said no fingerprints had been found but John wan't buying it. He worked his "magic" on the technician...threatening him into revealing the truth. There were prints on the weapon. And although there had not been a match when they were entered into the database, Ric had advised him to falsify the report to make it look like there were no prints at all. John had caught Ric in obstruction of justice!

While John pushed forward with his plans to take Ric's job, Devin pushed forward with his quest to find out who his father was. He ended up in New York with Skye. After a little hunting the truth was discovered...he was the son of John Durant! Devin couldn't believe it. He had never liked the man and now he was his father. The news upset him but thankfully Skye was there to help him deal with the news. He decided to go back to Port Charles to confront his father and get to know his family.

John was more certain of his win with each passing day...and Ric was feeling the opposite affect. He was totally unsure of what was going to happen next. He worked dillgently on his speech for an upcoming debate but felt that nothing he could say would save his job. Frustrated he took Kristina to the park where they ran into Lydia and her daughter Alana. The two seemed to immediately strike it off, understanding what the other was going through. In the end, Ric suggested that Alana and Kristina become playmates as the two had hit it off as well. Lydia was unsure because of the bad blood between she and Alexis but agreed it looked like the pair were getting along great.

John was about to have his first set back. Not because of anything Ric had done but because of fate. As he was driving his car skidded out of control and he injuried. Thankfully Rae was near by and managed to get him to the hospital. While he was there he was visited by Devin - who told him how they were related. John also got another suprise when Carly showed up to wish him well. Slowly, the pair might be able to establish a relationship. Devin also used this opportunity to tell Carly that they were now siblings. Carly immediately laid out the same conditions for Devin that she placed on her father - try and go after Sonny and she wouldn't acknowledge them as family. Devin promised Carly he was not like his father.
