Who's the Daddy?
A baby is on the way...a time to celebrate. But this mother to be is in for a stressful pregnancy: she doesn't know who fathered her baby!
Sam McCall came to Port Charles on a misson. She had been sent by a man who had power over her. Max wanted her to get close to Jasper Jax...close enough to grab some business information and send it back to him. Sam did it the only way she knew how - by using her body. She seduced Jax one night and the two ended up in bed. Thinking he was asleep, Sam snuck into his office and rifled through his files until she found what she wanted. She barely had time to hide them before Jax came in. He soon discovered her betrayal and quickly booted her out leaving her with some harsh words and no place to go.
A few days later, Sam was on the docks, worrying about what Max was going to do with her because she had no done what she asked. She also was upset because she had quickly ruined a what might have been a good relationship with a nice man. Jason Morgan happened upon her and the two quickly hit it off. He was worried about her being on the docks by herself and she assured him she could handle herself. Not convinced, he took her to a local gym and taught her a few self defense moves. It quickly turned passionate and the two went back to his penthouse. They ended up talking and she confessed how Max had used her. Jason promised to protect her and the two gave into the passion they were feeling.
A months later, Sam and Jason were still together, getting to know one another and quickly falling for one another. Jason was worried about Sam though - she had been getting sick frequently. He made her an appointment in the hospital and mix up led them to Dr. Meadows. It was fate - Sam found out she was pregnant. She was very scared at the prospect. She had never expected to be in a relationship let alone having a child. Jason promised to help her every step of the way. Feeling guilty, Sam told him that she didn't know if he was the father of the baby - after all she had slept with Jax around the same time of her conception. Jason had already figured that out...he didn't care. Sam quickly asked Jason to help her keep the truth from Jax. This baby would be Jason's. She promised him that no matter what happened, he would always be the father. Jason then asked her to marry him, and at first she was reluctant. She had fallen in love with Jason but didn't want to trap him in a marriage. Finally she confessed this to him. He surprised her by telling her he loved her too. She then accepted his proposal.
While Jason and Sam escaped to the island to get married, and hopefully keep a huge secret, Jax was dealing with family issues of his own. He first had to take custody of his daughter Kasey, after her mother Skye went missing. While looking after her, Jax kept running into Courtney, the ex-wife of Jason. The two became closer and even went out to dinner. When he came home, he found Skye there with Kasey. She had been kidnapped by Heather Webber but was free now. Jax said he would watch out for her. He continued to get closer to Courtney. The two made a date to take a run together.
Returning to Port Charles as husband and wife, Jason and Sam got their wires crossed and thought that Jax had called them over for something. Terrified that Jax may have figured something out, Sam went with Jason as her support. When they arrived at Jax's, it turns out that he didn't want to see them but now they were trapped there because of the storm. Courtney was also there and she was shocked to find out that Jason had moved on and married already. And that his new wife was pregnant! Jason and Sam felt awkward so they moved away from the group. Sam knew that Jax had to know she was pregnant now...it was obvious just to look at her. She was scared of what would happen next, and her husband was there to comfort her.
Sam was right...Jax did realize that she was pregnant. He also realized that there was a possibility that he was the father. But he decided that in a home full of people, most importantly his young daughter, it was not the time to confront her on the issue. He also had to deal with his daughter trying to go outside into the snow...he caught her just and time and talked to her about why one shouldn't sneak outside. He then went back to Courtney and the two shared a passionate kiss.
When Jason had to answer his cell phone, he left Sam's side and Jax saw his opportunity to question her on the pregnancy. She tried to play it like they had said all they needed to say the night of their heated fall out. Jax knew she was trying to avoid the question and called her on it. He laid it out...he knew there was a possibility that he was the father. Sam denied it automatically. She insisted that Jason was the father but of course after Sam deceieved Jax, he wasn't exactly going to believe her on just her word. Jax demanded a blood test to prove who the father was. Before Sam could respond, Jason came back. He needed her to go to the hospital with him. His family had been in a car accident.
Once they got to the hospital, Sam played the role of the supportive wife, genuinely concerned about how Jason's family was. Jason found out that Monica wasn't hurt so badly, but that his twin sister Jaslyn was going to need some help. He quickly volunteered to bring her to his home to help her. Sam didn't mind at all. He also found out that Alan needed a transfusion so he agreed to get tested for a match. When he went to tell Sam, she also told him about the test Jax had demanded. They agreed it was a good thing. They would finally know once and for all. When Jason was getting tested for a match, they would run a paternity test too.
Jason, Sam and Jaslyn ended up leaving the hospital before a paternity test could be ran. With Caleb stepping up as a donor, there was no need for Jason to be tested anymore. In the car ride home, Jaslyn and Sam took the opportunity to get to know each other better. Once at the penthouse, Jason began to fuss over the two women causing Sam to point out that she was only pregnant. Jason then heard of Zander's return and thought his sister should know. Just as he was on the phone, Sam realized that she was having contractions. It was time to return to the hospital!
Back at the hospital, Jason coached Sam through a relatively easy labour. Together they welcomed Heaven Danielle Morgan into the world. Overjoyed that her daughter was finally in the world, Sam couldn't help but let a dark cloud loom over her head - who was the father of her baby? Jason also wondered so when he picked up his wife and daughter a few days later, he had the paternity results waiting at home. Sam believed this was something she had to do on her own...and when she read the results she was devastated. Jax was the father of her baby. Jason immediately burnt the results and told her that he was the father - no matter what.
Jason could see that Sam was upset, and assured her that she hadn't disappointed him at all. He decided that the three of them should go to the island. Just then Sam got a message from Jax - he was coming over with a court order for a paternity test. He thought she was still pregnant! Sam immediately wanted Heaven and Jason out of the country. She would deal with Jax and then join them. Courtney overheard Jason's men making plans and decided to go to the airport to stop them. She ended up boarding the plane and blasted Jason for taking the child that was potentially Jax's out of the country. Meanwhile, Sam was almost able to convince Jax that she was still pregnant until Jax caught sight of the birth certificate. She told him Jason had Heaven and they were gone. On the plane, Jason and Courtney were still arguing when the plane suddenly nosedived, crashing the two of them. It was a miracle everyone survived - although Courtney was injuried.
Jax soon realized the truth - Sam had sent Heaven out of the country. He demanded she be brought back but Sam vowed that he would never get his hands on her. She was then hit with the news that Jason's plane had gone down. Devestated she believed this was her fault. Jax discovered that Courtney had been on the same plane. When Sam went to Sonny for help, Jax was not far behind claiming he would be involved as well - after all he cared for Courtney and Heaven might be his. Sonny and Jax realized they had to work together to save them. Distraught, Sam had to be consoled by Carly and Allyson - to whom she confessed that Jax was really Heaven's father!
On the beach, Jason and Courtney discovered that the captain was dead. Not counting her injuried leg, they and baby Heaven were relatively alright. A fire was built and the three huddled close. Jason wanted to look at her leg, so he gave Heaven to her to hold. Courtney gazed down at the tiny baby, marvelling how well she was behaving despite what had happened. She wished that Jason was the father so he could finally have the child he wanted. Suddenly Jax and Sonny appeared, having located them by their fire. Sonny was a bit taken aback by just how much Courtney and Jax cared for one another but happy that everyone was alright.
Back in Port Charles, everyone went to the hospital. Courtney got her leg looked at and Jax called in officials to do another test. While they were waiting for the results, Jax got a call from Skye explaining that Kasey was in trouble - she needed surgery. Jax rushed to be with his other daughter, leaving Jason and Sam to hear the results. Jason promised that when it became official that Jax was the father they would work something out. After a few tense moments, the results were handed to Sam. She was prepared to see Jax's name but it was Jason's that she read outloud! He was the real father! Overjoyed the two celebrated...but wondered...who switched the first results?
