I looked in the mirror today
Quickly caught my own reflection,
The face of one who loved you deep
Beyond all harsh rejection.

Not much has changed about me
Unless one looks into my eyes
The lessons they could find there
Even fill me with surprise.

For I am far a better person
Having shared my love with you
And I could do it all again
Knowing all I would go through.

There is a spot of sadness
A moment I felt pain
That seemed to rip my soul apart
And then gave it back again.

Though many tried to warn me
Not to give my heart away
I dont regret I didnt listen
Id have loved you anyway.

You yourself were guarded
Knowing what could never be
But I would not be who I am
If you hadnt once loved me.

I smile at the mirror
I alone know what was true.

There was nothing you could do.
