THIN ICE-THINK ON THESE THINGS-THIS IS MY PRAYER-
TIME MACHINE-TOO BUSY BLUES-(I'm Never Gonna Get) TOO MUCH OF THE SON
“THIN
ICE” by Jeff Leslie 6/19/84
You robbed a quick convenience store and candy from a baby
They told the officer you laughed. How could you laugh?
Sprinting down the walk, you grabbed a handbag from a lady
You kept her cash and trashed her precious photographs
Pretty soon you're gonna learn you play with fire and you'll get burned
I feel it's only fair to warn you 'cause it's something you should know
The ice you to tread gets thinner by the minute
Its melting from the lake of fire that's burning down below
And it won't be long before your is sinking in it
No, it won't be long before your is sinking in it
You cheated on your income tax and kept 11 grand
You laughed and said "They'll never know." How could you laugh?
A wounded man laid dying a but you never lend a hand
Instead you walked around him on your crooked little path
You live life with sheer abandon like a random throw of dice
But the pair you play is loaded by the Piper
You smell the cheese but not the trap like a hungry, dirty little mice
But soon you're caught and swallowed by the viper
Tonight you think you sing but you're a puppet on a string
I feel it's only fair to warn you 'cause it's something you should know
The ice you to tread gets thinner by the minute
Its melting from the lake of fire that's burning down below
And it won't be long before your is sinking in it
No, it won't be long before your is sinking in it
“THINK ON THESE THINGS”
Phil. 4:7,8 by Jeff Leslie 10/23/91
Whatever is true
And honest and pure
The good and the just
A love you can trust
Through time will endure
Whatever will bring
Sweet praise to our King
His peace will fullfill you
If you think on these things
(rpt.)
And a peace
Unlike any you've known before
Will keep your hearts and minds
Through Jesus Christ our Lord
Whatever is true
And honest and pure
The good and the just
A love you can trust
Through time will endure
Whatever will bring
Sweet praise to our King
His peace will fullfill you
If you think on these things
“THIS IS MY PRAYER” ---, Tony
Carr, Jeff Leslie ca. 1980
This is my prayer to You, Holy Father
This is my prayer to You, mighty King
This is my prayer to You, Holy Father
This is my prayer to You, mighty King
Flow through me from where You are
From Your throne on high above
Fill my heart and spirit with your love
This is my prayer to You, Holy Father
This is my prayer to You, mighty King
God of all the universe
You deserve my highest praise
Humbly, Lord, I bow before Your face
This is my prayer to You, Holy Father
This is my prayer to You, mighty King
This is my prayer to You, Holy Father
This is my prayer to You, mighty King
"TIME MACHINE"
by Jeff Leslie 1978
Now and then I think about the struggles that we live without
That early Christians had to face rejected by the human race
As I recline and start to dream I slip into my time machine
Soon my mind has long departed to the place where Christians started
A city stands before my eyes and all at once I realize
The Holy Place Jerusalem is bringing the good news to men
"Our Lord's alive!", believers sing. To some it will not mean a
thing
For those who saw Him crucified just won't believe outrageous lies
I am met by John and Paul who claim they have received a call
To tell the news to all they see and this is what they said to me
"We saw Him live. Believe it's true and that is all you have to
do
Then after we have prayed awhile, you'll receive His grace in style"
(CHORUS)
There's a boat that I'll be boardin' flowing down the River Jordan
That's where John will baptize me. We'll sail right through eternity
And freely dine the Father's wine and taste a slice of sacrifice
That Jesus Christ prepared so perfectly
Set before the ones who've been set free
Once I knew that I was saved the news spread like a title wave
I'd tell the news to all I'd see till James, the son of Zebedee, said
"You sound just like the tow'r of Babel. Speak more slowly if you're
able
That way they will understand you when you tell the Master plan."
My jumbled talk was all it took for me to sit and write a book
Give Jesus Christ the copyright for He'd know how to sell it right
Then God could have royalties to them as He would please
They'll place the order by the stack - The Book of Jeff in paperback
(RPT. CHORUS)
I walked among the best of men and helped write the New Testament
I gave a blind man seeing eyes through grace and faith in Jesus Christ
I sang my favorite prison songs as solos and as sing alongs
The best part of the dream to me was when I learned I could be free
(RPT. CHORUS)
"TOO BUSY
BLUES" by Jeff Leslie
4/82 - 1/88
Came home at the end of a work day, that 8 to 5 is a grind
Open the door, throw my coat on the floor, it's exactly 5:09
I lean the recliner, kick off my shoes and guzzle a brew
And Swanson's the winner for my evening dinner it's done in a minute or
two
Not a second too soon. A day in the life to the tune of the "Too
Busy Blues"
The TV plays the peril of my favorite private eye
The names are all changed but the story's the same, oh it's got me hypnotyzed
Just the facts, ma'am. The man on the run-- he carries a gun
If he gets into trouble they send in a double
They don't want the star to be bruised
Wish I had a twin, too, to help me get by
On these days of the "Too Busy Blues"
If the phone rings I'll say I'm in the shower
A knock on the door, I don't want any more, you got nothing for me
It's the Joneses-- wants to borrow some flour
You can get it yourself from the lower right shelf
Don't slam the door when you leave
To bed between comorting covers, a Bible lays right by my lamp
It's there for safe keeping but no time for reading
I'm sure God will understand
My head hits the pillow. I'm out light a light, it's the same every
night
Got to get enough sleep for the hours I keep.
I get up before the morning dew. Got to stay in the groove
Of a day in the life to the tune of the "Too Busy Blues"
On Sunday I'll read the funnies and when I'm through cutting the grass
I'll go to the lake 'cause I'm needing a break
And my Saturday passes to fast
The church is for children and when I have some then maybe I'll come
But now my concern is that time isn't burned
For these hours seem only so few. I've got playing to do
The only recess that I get from the "Too Busy Blues"
One day the obituary will read I received my due rest
What do you mean that my soul is unclean
I thought sure that I passed every test
I got my religion. I walked an isle. My card's on a file
Was dunked in a pool by the Rev. O'Toole, I thought sure that's all I
had to do
Jesus said, "It's not true.
If you never have time for me I've got no time for you."
So now I'm changing my tune
Imagine eternity singing the "Too Busy Blues"
"(I'm Never Gonna Get) TOO MUCH OF THE SON"
by Jeff Leslie 4/11/87
I have a kookie neighbor -- at least he's strange to me
He thinks that he's a sailor who lives out on the sea
Each year, the month of April -- for sure by early May
He sets his old alarm for before the break of day
He wants to get up early to meet the morning sun
To lay without a shirt he'll bake until he's done
I said, 'Hey, don't you think that's foolish to give it so much time?'
He said, 'As long as it is shining, then you can bet that I'm
Never gonna get too much of the sun. No, no I'm
Never gonna get too much of the sun. Because I
Wouldn't wanna miss out on all the fun. No, no I'm
Never gonna get too much of the sun
He said, 'I'm not the one who's crazy, who's up before the dawn
It's you there in the morning whose reading lamp is on'
I said, 'The Holy Scriptures deserve a closer look
So, while my cup is brewing, I open up the Book
And read about the Saviour who suffered on the tree
Who died and rose again just to save the likes of me
He said, 'Hey, don't you think that's foolish to give Him so much time'
I said, 'As long as I am living, then you can bet that I' m...
Never
gonna get too much of the Son. No, no I'm
Never gonna get too much of the Son. Because
I
Wouldn't wanna miss out on all the Son. No,
no I'm
Never gonna get too much of the Son
He said, "It makes me warm all over
With a soft and rosy glow"
I said, "Deep down you're even warmer
With His love, oh, don't you know ... that I'm
Never gonna
get too much of the Son. No, no I'm
Never gonna get too much of the Son. Because
I
Wouldn't wanna miss out on all the Son. No,
no I'm
Never gonna get too much of the Son
