25 teams were on hand to fish the Midwest Sportsman 2003 kick-off on Stockton Lake and they were greated with a beautiful day. When we arrived we had some 10 teams lined up ready to sign-in and we appreciated them getting there early! Donuts for all anglers courtesy of Bud's Donuts in Mt Vernon MO were graciously donated. All went well until take-off time when the megaphone failed, and we had to call out 25 boat numbers without it, but all went well. The day proved to be TUFF for some teams, but the day fell right into the hands of the jig fisherman as most of the teams reported taking their keepers on jigs. Clift and Medley took top honors blowing away the field, but there was a good challenge for the 2nd spot with Ells and Phelan having a few ounces more than Hensens'. There were a good many spouse's and friends joining the croud to support their teams which made for a very good turn-out to end the day. 90% of the entry fees were paid back as well as 100% in the Big Bass pot which pleased many of the top finishers. Our next event will be April 19 2003 on Table Rock Lake going out of the Mill Creek Ramp.
