Midwest Sportsman held its 2nd of 6 tourney’s April 19th at Table Rock Lake and with thunderstorms and rain forecasted for the day, we were not sure how many would brave the elements to fish with us. However, 38 brave teams showed up to get it on regardless of the weather which showed itself for about 3 hours mid-day. Fresh made donuts courtesy of "Bud's Donuts" of Mt Vernon MO were gone in a very short time.
The local team of Larry and Bryan Herndon brought in a healthy sack of LM topping the scales @ 18.87# to claim the victory over a close 2nd and another local team Justin Angel and Brent Watson with 18.44# and the day’s Big Bass of 5.35#.
There were 9 limits brought in and 23 of the 38 teams weighed fish. There wasn’t much talk of what the fish were caught on. After 90% of the entry fee’s were handed out to the top 8 places everybody headed out so we didn’t get the scoop on techniques or locations.
We are currently up to 84 members for the 2003 season and being a new circuit in the area we are very pleased with that number. Some as far away as the Kansas City and St Louis MO area as well as Harrison AR and Ft Scott KS.
The top 30% of our Division who fish 4 out of 6 events will be qualified to fish the National Classic in October. There are 4 events remaining so it’s not too late to join up with us and make the classic.
Membership for Midwest Sportsman is $60 per person. Of that, $25 is actual member dues and $35 is classic qualifying dues. Many circuits payback 65% - 80% and hold out your classic fees through lower paybacks. Midwest Sportsman collects classic fees up front and has 90% Paybacks on the $70 per team entry allowing anglers to fish more affordably and a chance to collect some of their classic fee back through higher paybacks. Optional Big Bass pot $10/team 100% Payback.
Our next event will be May 17th @ Table Rock, Mill Creek ramp, from 6am – 3pm. We will take entries from now up until 15 minutes before take-off with NO LATE FEES.
