Mrs. J. A. Thomas died here Thursday night of apoplexy. Stricken about 8:30 pm while
downtown with her husband and died about 11:30 pm due to high blood pressure. Funeral this
afternoon. Thursday, from Thomas home at 2:30 pm on North Main Street. Rev. C. C. Fessler,
Methodist minister officated. She belonged to that church. Buried in Oakridge cemetery (Now
called Doniphan Cemetery). Leaves husband, J. A. Thomas, president of Dopniphan State
Bank, a son James, a student at Central College, Fayette MO., three brothers: John and Lee
Towles, of Ripley County, and Harbard Towles of St. Louis; also one half sister, Mrs Jim
Wright, Poplar Bluff and a half brother, Jim Cude of Doniphan. Born 4 miles south of
Doniphan on 28 March 1875 and married Thomas 19 May 1895. A daughter of Mr. and Mrs
H. H. Towles. Member of Eastern Star, Rebekaha, and Royal Neighbors.

Mrs. J. A. (Addie) Thomas of Doniphan, about midnight Tuesday of apoplexy, suffered a few
hours before. Had the attack in Dr. Waddle's office and taken home where she died a few
hours later. Funeral 2:30pm today with burial at Oakridge (now Doniphan Cemetery) with Rev
C C Fessler of the Methodist church officiating. She was a member of that church and also a
member of Eastern Star, Rebekahs and Royal Neighbors. Former Miss Addie Towles, Born at
old Towles homestead four miles south of Doniphan on 28 May 1875. Married J. A. Thomas in
1895 and had two children: a dau who died at 13 months and a son James Thomas, now a
student at Central College, Fayette MO. Leaves her husband and son as well as three brothers:
John A. and Lee Towles of Ripley Co., and Harbard Towles of St. Louis - also one half sister
and one half brother Mrs. James Wright, Poplar Bluff and John W. Cude of Doniphan.
