DONIPHAN – Eldeen Thompson, 70, of Doniphan, died Monday, Oct 30, 2000, at the Ripley County Memorial Hospital. She had been in ill health for the past 18 months.

Mrs. Thompson was born March 12, 1930 in Ripley County, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a member of the Fairview Church of God.

On Aug. 7, 1948, she married William F. “Bill” Thompson in Pocahontas, Ark. He died Aug. 26, 1989.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Pennington of Poplar Bluff and Cheryl Lalk of Risco; one son, Larry Thompson of Fisk; six brothers, Ernie Brooks and Richard Brooks of St. John, Phillip Brooks and Glenn Brooks of Doniphan, Vernon Brooks of Hazelwood, and Wendell Brooks of Poplar Bluff; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. today at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. James Gore officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery. (Submitted by Peggy Brooks Cannady)
