DONIPHAN-Elvis Ray Thompson, 87, of Doniphan, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North Campus in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Thompson was born June 25, 1915, in Ripley County. He was a member of the First Church of God in Doniphan. He farmed and carried mail and DAR newspapers. He was retired.
On Dec. 2, 1939, he married Maurice Hooper in Harrisburg, Ark. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Eddie Sue Seals of Doniphan; two sons, Gaylin Thompson and wife Linda, and Mark Thompson and wife Barbara, all of Doniphan; four grandchildren, Kim Cannon and husband Steve and great-grandchild Travis, Karla Hale and husband Roy, Pam Koebler and husband Dan and great-granddaughters Kelsey and Madlyn, and Teddy Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Nancy Thompson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Church of God in Doniphan with the Rev. Larry Bashaw officiating. Burial will be in Doniphan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: First Church of God Buildig Fund.
