DONIPHAN - Kenneth R. Brooks, 75, of Doniphan died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Cedar Hills Terrace Nursing Home in Cedar Hills, MO. He had been in failing health for some time.

Mr. Brooks was born Jan. 10, 1925, in Madison, Ill. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a driver for Tucker Truck Lines in Caruthersville where he also had served as an auxilliary policeman. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Presbyterian Church.
On Feb. 9, 1946, he was married to Nene Johnston. She died March 27, 1999.

Survivors include one daughter, Karen Brady of Monnett; one son, Ken Brooks of Poway, Calif.; one sister, Vallie James of Cedar Hill; one half-sister, Alice Hawkins of Corning, Ark.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is set to begin at 5 p.m. today (Friday) at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. A funeral is sscheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Paul Currie and the Rev. Robert Norvell officiating. Burial will be at Brooks Cemetery.

The family requests any memorials be made to Doniphan Presbyterian Church or the Doniphan Public Library. (Submitted by Peggy Brooks Cannady)
