Mary E. Thomas Allen Smith buried at Pope's Chapel
She is the daughter of Delaney Ann Pope Thomas. Delaney's father donated cemetery ground for Pope's chapel. I have the land deed if you are interested. The Allen's buried at Pope's Chapel are her decendents. Pope's Chapel land for the church was donated by the Kelly family buried here. I have deed for that too.
A little history of the site. Pope's Chapel was built in 1861. It was torn down in 1960 by the Allen family and the wood was used to build a barn. The barn is still in use in southern Ripley Co. just south of Purman.
Mary Eliza Thomas was my grandfathers sister.
