Shay Seat Riser

One of the ways that you can increase leg room is add a 2X4 under the seat. I made a seat riser that looks original to the Shay.

Material required: 4 foot 2X4, 8 wood screws.

1. Remove seat.

2. Remove brackets from seat.

3. Cut 2X4 to 33 inch long.

4. Cut the 2X4 making two 2x2X33 long pieces.

5. Lay one piece aside, cut one 12 1/2 piece from the other side

. 6. Cut the 12 1/2 piece on a diagonal, on the thin end trim 1 from each piece.

7. Now for a mock up check.

8. Drill starter holes 2 each on the side and four on the front, drill counter sunk holes. Attach the seat riser to the seat

9. Sand the riser and paint with black paint.

10. Remount the brackets, Install seat.

This project can be greatly reduced by using 2x2 once painted it looks original to the car and will be no need of explaining why a 2X4 is under your seat.
