B. Removal.

1. Remove Handle, two screws on outside of trunk, has a gasket between door handle and body.

2. Be careful not to drop anything it will go down into the back of the rumble seat, fold a towel or something to try to catch any wayward parts.

3. Remove the roll pin from the old handle assembly, careful remove the base (you will reuse this later

4. Discard the old handle clean all the components locking mech, base etc

5. New Handle

6. Remove the roll pin from the new handle. It has a spring and a flat washer save them.

7. Remove the base plate laid aside you will not use it.

8. Take the key and turn so the locking pin (little square piece of metal that comes in and out when key is operated.

9. Take the old SHAY base plate, turn it around and try to fit on new handle. You will find the locking pin is too wide to fit in the slot on the SHAY base. Now you must file the locking pin (a little on each side) until it fits in the SHAY base plate. This will take a great deal of care I used a dremel tool.

10. When you have a good fit turn the base plate to the correct location, lock and unlock using the key.

11. Assemble the new handle with the old base plate. (Use spring, washer and roll pin from new handle

12. Install the handle into your SHAY. My wood spacer was rotten away so I replace it with some nuts and flat washers.

Now you have a New Handle with a key.
