Once per generation, the ruling class of the mighty empire of Grand Zenan produces a wizard--a human being naturally capable of commanding true magic. In the case of the latest generation, however, (that is, the generation of young adults in 1 BC), a pair of twins was born, and the ancient elemental magic inherited from the Legendary Dynasty of Zeal was split between them.
Reliza is the female twin. She is presently working to undermine the plans of Vante, her brother, who seeks to unite the entire world under Grand Zenan by use of force. Reliza's hope is that she can convince the demi-human tribes of Ranidae and Manoria, who detest Grand Zenan, to lay down their arms. She believes that Vante will call his armies back if he is ever convinced that the rebel lands pose no threat to Grand Zenan.
Vante, thinking his sister dangerous for her naivety, had her locked away in the palace of Zenan Minor. Reliza escaped, and is presently in hiding from her brother.
