Winterguard differs from colorguard in the fact that takes place indoors, usually on a gym floor. A large tarp is rolled out, and styrofoam backdrops are put up. Because the audience is so much closer during winter competitions, it can be intimidating for the performers. In order to perform for people right in front of you, one must not only know the work w/out flaw or hesitation, but be able to change every detail of their body language and facials.
